Vivo X500 Pro Max Teases Zeiss Camera Power With Stunning 4K240 Video, Hinting at 4K960 Slow-Mo

Vivo X500 Pro Max Camera Preview Shows 4K240 Zeiss Video and Advanced Stabilization

Vivo is preparing to make a major camera push with its upcoming X500 Pro series, and the first official camera sample suggests the company is aiming squarely at mobile videography enthusiasts. After teasing several features in late August, Vivo has now revealed what its latest Zeiss-backed camera system can do, with 4K video recording at 240 frames per second taking center stage.

The new Vivo X500 Pro lineup is expected to include two premium models in different sizes, with the larger version likely arriving as the Vivo X500 Pro Max. According to Vivo product manager Han Boxiao, the new flagship camera system can record native 4K240 video, offering even smoother slow-motion footage than the previous generation’s already impressive 4K120 mode.

Vivo is also pushing beyond native recording with frame interpolation technology. This feature is expected to allow 4K480 and even 4K960 slow-motion video, making it possible to create dramatic ultra-slow-motion clips at up to 32x. While real-world quality at these extreme settings remains to be tested, the first sample footage already gives a promising look at what the new camera hardware can handle.

The early camera sample reportedly shows an 8x slowed-down 4K video scene filmed in a challenging backlit environment. This kind of lighting is difficult for smartphone cameras because it tests dynamic range, exposure control, highlight preservation, and shadow detail. Vivo appears to be using the sample to highlight the strengths of its new “Super Dynamic Zeiss main camera,” especially in scenes where bright light sources and darker subjects appear together.

For now, Vivo has only confirmed 4K240 recording for the main camera. The telephoto camera is expected to remain capped at 4K120, while the ultra-wide camera may be limited to 4K60, based on previous hardware behavior in Vivo’s recent premium models.

The main camera in the Vivo X500 Pro Max is expected to use a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia L910 sensor with a 1/1.28-inch sensor size. It is also believed to include LOFIC technology, which is designed to improve dynamic range and help reduce overexposure in bright scenes. If implemented well, this could make the Vivo X500 Pro Max especially strong for sunset shots, night city scenes, concerts, and other difficult lighting conditions.

Another key upgrade is stabilization. The Vivo X500 Pro Max is said to feature 3-degree gimbal stabilization on the main camera, which should help deliver smoother handheld video and sharper low-light photos. The phone is also expected to include a 200-megapixel telephoto camera with 3-degree optical image stabilization, reportedly borrowed from Vivo’s Ultra-tier camera hardware.

The smaller Vivo X500 Pro will likely take a slightly different approach. Previous teasers suggest it will not include the same 3-degree optical stabilization system as the Pro Max model. Instead, it is expected to feature a 64-megapixel telephoto camera, making it a more compact flagship option while still offering strong zoom performance.

Vivo’s X500 series launch is scheduled for September in China. A global release is expected to follow afterward, with the Vivo X500 and Vivo X500 Pro Max likely to be the key models for international markets.

With 4K240 video recording, Zeiss camera tuning, improved dynamic range, high-resolution telephoto hardware, and gimbal-style stabilization, the Vivo X500 Pro Max could become one of the most exciting camera phones of the year. If the final image quality lives up to the early samples, Vivo may have a serious contender for users who prioritize mobile photography and cinematic smartphone video.
