Trek District+ E-Bike Debuts in Europe With Bosch Motors, Belt Drive, and Up to 115 km Range
Trek has introduced its newest commuter electric bike in Europe, the District+, a Dutch-style e-bike built for everyday city riding, longer commutes, and low-maintenance travel. Designed with comfort, practicality, and customization in mind, the new Trek District+ gives riders plenty of choice, including different motor, battery, and drivetrain options.
One of the biggest highlights of the Trek District+ is its flexible setup. Instead of offering just one version, Trek is making the e-bike available in seven configurations, allowing buyers to choose the model that best matches their daily riding needs.
For power, riders can select between two Bosch mid-drive motor systems. The Bosch Active Line Plus motor delivers 60 Nm of torque, making it a strong option for smooth urban commuting and relaxed rides. For those who want extra pulling power, especially on hills or when carrying heavier loads, the Bosch Performance Line motor increases output to 75 Nm of torque. Both versions support speeds of up to 15.5 mph, or 25 km/h, which aligns with European e-bike regulations.
Battery choice is another major selling point. The Trek District+ uses a removable and lockable Bosch PowerTube battery, making it easier to charge securely at home, at work, or wherever riders store their bike. Buyers can choose from three battery capacities: 360 Wh, 540 Wh, and 600 Wh. These provide estimated ranges of up to 70 km, 100 km, and 115 km respectively, depending on the selected battery, riding conditions, terrain, assist level, and rider weight.
The new District+ also focuses heavily on durability and reduced maintenance. Certain configurations come with a Gates carbon belt drive, which replaces the traditional bike chain. Belt drives are popular among commuter cyclists because they are quieter, cleaner, and require less upkeep over time. This makes the District+ especially appealing for riders who want an e-bike that is easy to live with day after day.
Trek is also offering several drivetrain choices. Depending on the configuration, buyers can choose Shimano CUES 9-speed or 10-speed chain drive options, as well as Shimano Nexus 5-speed or 7-speed internal gear hubs. These hub gear systems are available in belt or chain setups, giving riders even more flexibility based on their preference for performance, simplicity, or maintenance needs.
For braking, the Trek District+ uses MT200 hydraulic disc brakes, which are designed to provide reliable stopping power in different weather conditions. This is an important feature for a commuter e-bike, especially in busy city traffic or during wet rides.
Comfort has also been given attention. The e-bike includes a 63 mm Suntour suspension fork to help absorb bumps from rough roads, paths, and uneven city surfaces. An adjustable stem lets riders fine-tune their riding position, making the bike suitable for both upright cruising and more active commuting.
Practical commuter features come built in. The District+ includes integrated lights for visibility, fenders to help protect against road spray, and an SP Connect mount for convenient smartphone placement. These additions make the bike more ready for daily use straight from the shop.
The frame is made from aluminium and is designed to support a maximum payload of 300 lbs, or 136 kg. That makes the Trek District+ suitable not only for riders but also for carrying bags, groceries, work gear, or other everyday essentials.
Trek is offering the District+ in three color options: cobra blood, lunar silver, and dark star. Buyers can also choose from four frame sizes: small, medium, large, and extra large, helping more riders find a comfortable fit.
Pricing for the Trek District+ e-bike in Europe ranges from £2,300 to £3,000, depending on the selected configuration. With Bosch motor options, multiple battery capacities, belt drive availability, hydraulic disc brakes, and commuter-friendly accessories, the new Trek District+ is positioned as a versatile electric bike for riders who want comfort, range, and low-maintenance performance for daily travel.
