Google’s next Made by Google event is set for August 12, and while most of the attention is on the company’s upcoming Pixel devices, a last-minute leak suggests the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will also make an appearance in a fresh new color.
According to leaked marketing material, Google is not expected to unveil an entirely new pair of earbuds at the event. Instead, the company appears to be preparing a new color option for its current flagship wireless earbuds, the Pixel Buds Pro 2. The new shade is reportedly called Olive, giving buyers another option alongside the existing finishes.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 originally launched in 2024 in three colors: Porcelain, Peony, and Hazel. Google later expanded the lineup with a Moonstone colorway, introduced around the time of the Pixel 10 Pro series. Now, Olive looks set to become the fifth color in the range.
The timing makes sense. The new Olive finish appears to complement the color palette expected for Google’s upcoming Pixel 11 lineup. It is said to closely resemble the Moss shade of the Pixel 11 and the Pine finish of the Pixel 11 Pro, making it a natural match for buyers who want their earbuds and smartphone to share a similar look.
Like the other Pixel Buds Pro 2 color options, the Olive version is expected to use a two-tone design. The outer shell reportedly features the new olive shade, while the rest of the earbuds remain black. This gives the earbuds a subtle but stylish appearance without changing the familiar Pixel Buds Pro 2 design.
Aside from the new color, no hardware changes are expected. The Olive Pixel Buds Pro 2 should offer the same premium features as the current models, including active noise cancellation, adaptive audio, spatial audio with head tracking, and Google’s Tensor A1 chip for improved sound processing and noise reduction.
The earbuds are also expected to continue supporting Gemini Live, making them a strong choice for users who want deeper integration with Google’s AI features. Battery life should remain unchanged as well, with up to 30 hours of total listening time when active noise cancellation is enabled using the charging case.
Pricing is also expected to stay the same. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 Olive colorway will likely launch at $229, matching the original retail price of the other color options. However, current Pixel Buds Pro 2 colors have recently been available at discounted prices, which could make the older finishes more attractive for buyers who are not specifically interested in the new Olive version.
For those who already own Pixel Buds Pro 2, this update is mostly cosmetic. But for anyone planning to buy Google’s premium earbuds, the new Olive color could be a welcome addition, especially if paired with one of the upcoming Pixel phones.
Google has not officially confirmed the new color yet, but with the Made by Google event just around the corner, the wait should be short. If the leak is accurate, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will remain Google’s top earbuds for now, simply refreshed with a new look designed to match the next generation of Pixel devices.
