Vivo Buds Clip Debut With 42-Hour Battery Life, Real-Time Translation, and Open-Ear Design
Vivo has introduced the Vivo Buds Clip in China, marking the company’s first entry into the growing category of open-ear clip-on earbuds. Launched alongside the Vivo X500 series and Vivo Watch 6, the new earbuds are designed for users who want music, calls, and smart features without blocking out the world around them.
The Vivo Buds Clip arrive as a fresh competitor in the open-ear wireless earbuds market, offering long battery life, Hi-Res audio support, AI-powered call enhancements, real-time translation, and the ability to connect to up to three devices at the same time. Pricing in China starts at 699 yuan, which is roughly $104, while a version with Qi wireless charging costs 799 yuan, or about $119.
Unlike traditional in-ear earbuds, the Vivo Buds Clip do not sit inside the ear canal. Instead, they clip gently around the outer ear, allowing users to stay aware of traffic, conversations, announcements, and other ambient sounds. This makes them especially appealing for commuting, outdoor workouts, office use, and anyone who prefers not to wear sealed earbuds for long periods.
Each earbud weighs just 5.2 grams and uses a flexible “memory titanium” bridge to stay securely in place. Vivo has also made the design more convenient by removing the need for fixed left and right earbuds. The Buds Clip can automatically detect which ear they are being worn on and adjust the stereo channels accordingly.
For audio performance, Vivo has equipped the Buds Clip with 12 mm dual-magnet drivers. The earbuds cover a frequency range of 20 Hz to 40 kHz and carry Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification. They support LDAC, LC3, AAC, and SBC Bluetooth codecs, giving users multiple options for high-quality wireless playback depending on their device.
The earbuds also include 3D spatial audio for both stereo and multichannel content. Users can fine-tune the sound through a 10-band equalizer and choose from four audio profiles designed to recreate different listening environments, including a theater, concert hall, recording studio, and live concert.
One of the more practical features is an anti-leakage mode, which is intended to reduce how much sound escapes from the earbuds. Since open-ear earbuds naturally sit outside the ear canal, sound leakage can be a concern in quiet spaces. Vivo’s solution aims to make private listening more comfortable in public places such as offices, trains, and cafes.
Call quality is another major focus. The Vivo Buds Clip feature two beamforming microphones, AI noise cancellation, and a bone-conduction sensor. This combination is designed to isolate the wearer’s voice and reduce background noise from traffic, wind, crowds, and other distractions.
Battery life is one of the standout specifications. Vivo claims the Buds Clip can deliver up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge. With the charging case, total battery life reaches up to 42 hours. A quick 10-minute charge is said to provide up to three additional hours of listening time.
The earbuds support Bluetooth 5.4 and can connect to three devices simultaneously, such as a smartphone, tablet, and laptop. This is a useful feature for users who frequently switch between calls, music, videos, and work devices without wanting to manually reconnect every time.
The earbuds themselves carry an IP55 rating, meaning they are resistant to dust and water splashes. This should make them suitable for workouts and daily outdoor use. However, Vivo has not listed a water-resistance rating for the charging case.
The Vivo Buds Clip also include several smart features, though some are limited to compatible Vivo and iQOO smartphones. These include real-time translation, AI voice notifications for package deliveries, flights, and train updates, plus an offline earbud finder. Depending on the feature, users may need Android 14 or Android 15 along with a recent version of OriginOS.
At launch, Vivo has not confirmed the full list of compatible smartphones. The company has also not announced whether the Buds Clip will be released globally.
For now, the Vivo Buds Clip are available in China in two versions. The standard model is priced at 699 yuan, while the Qi wireless charging version costs 799 yuan. With a lightweight open-ear design, long battery life, Hi-Res audio, real-time translation, and three-device connectivity, Vivo is clearly aiming to make the Buds Clip a strong option for users looking for comfortable wireless earbuds that do more than just play music.
