Motorola is expanding its audio lineup with two fresh wireless earbuds revealed at MWC 2026: the Moto Buds 2 and the higher-end Moto Buds 2 Plus. Both are positioned as true wireless earbuds with a closed-ear fit, stem-style design, active noise cancellation, hi-res wireless audio support, and new AI-powered features. Motorola also highlights strong endurance across the lineup, with total battery life topping 40 hours depending on the model.
Moto Buds 2: built for everyday listening with big battery life
The Moto Buds 2 are designed as an all-around option for daily use—think podcasts, streaming shows, commuting, and casual music sessions. Motorola is leaning on a dual-driver setup here, combining 11mm dynamic drivers with 6mm micro planar magnetic drivers. The goal is a sound profile with more depth and detail than you’d expect at this price, giving voices and background audio extra clarity.
For noise control, the Moto Buds 2 feature dynamic active noise cancellation rated up to 55dB, plus a transparency mode for letting outside sound in when you need awareness. Audio support includes LHDC for hi-res wireless playback, spatial audio for a more immersive effect, and a gaming mode aimed at improving the experience while playing on mobile devices.
Call performance gets a boost from a six-microphone system paired with environmental noise cancellation to help keep your voice clear in noisy environments.
Moto Buds 2 connectivity, charging, and AI features
Motorola includes Bluetooth 6.0 and multipoint pairing, so you can stay connected to two devices at once (for example, a laptop and a phone). Battery life is a standout: up to 11 hours from the earbuds alone, with a total of up to 48 hours when using the charging case. If you’re in a rush, a 10-minute fast charge is rated for up to 3 hours of playback.
The charging case is also easy to recognize thanks to its translucent lid.
On the smart side, Moto AI features are included, but they require a compatible Motorola device. With those features enabled, you can do things like set reminders and check notifications and messages without taking your phone out.
Moto Buds 2 price, colors, and release timing
The Moto Buds 2 are priced at €79 and will be offered in Pantone Carbon, Pantone Violet Ice, and Pantone Gray Mist. Motorola says they’ll be released in a few weeks across parts of Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and APAC.
Moto Buds 2 Plus: premium upgrades, Bose-tuned sound, and more AI tools
The Moto Buds 2 Plus step up with a more premium feature set aimed at buyers who want better audio tuning and smarter capabilities. Motorola lists Sound by Bose technology, along with wear detection and an Audio Share feature that allows two pairs of earbuds to connect to a single device—useful for watching videos or listening together.
Touch controls are customizable, and the AI feature set expands significantly: Motorola says the Buds 2 Plus include AI-powered translation, plus tools to transcribe and summarize meetings.
Moto Buds 2 Plus audio and call quality enhancements
Hardware-wise, the Moto Buds 2 Plus use 11mm drivers and include Knowles armatures to improve clarity and precision. Like the standard model, they support LHDC for hi-res wireless audio, offer spatial audio, and include dynamic ANC.
They also feature six microphones with environmental noise cancellation, and add CrystalTalk AI (enabled in the companion app). This uses advanced AI noise reduction to cut down background noise during calls, targeting clearer voice pickup in busy spaces.
Moto Buds 2 Plus battery life, durability, and pricing
Despite the additional premium features, the Moto Buds 2 Plus deliver shorter battery life than the non-Plus version: up to 9 hours per charge, and up to 40 hours total with the charging case. Fast charging is rated at up to 2 hours of listening time from a 10-minute charge. They also include Bluetooth 6.0 with multipoint support and are rated IPX4 for water resistance, making them better suited for light workouts and everyday splashes.
Pricing is set at €149. Colors at launch include Pantone Cool White and Pantone Silhouette, with availability expected in a few weeks.
Which one is worth buying?
If your priorities are long battery life, strong everyday features, and a lower price, the Moto Buds 2 are positioned as the value pick. If you want premium audio tuning, more advanced call processing, shared listening, and expanded AI features like translation and meeting summaries, the Moto Buds 2 Plus are designed to justify the higher price—though you’ll trade some battery longevity to get those upgrades.
