Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 Get a Fresh Olive Color and Smarter Features
Google has refreshed the Pixel Buds Pro 2 with a new Olive color option designed to pair beautifully with the latest Pixel 11 lineup. The new shade matches the Olive finish available on the Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, while also complementing the Pistachio version of the standard Pixel 11.
The new Olive Pixel Buds Pro 2 are available now through Google’s official store, where they are currently discounted to $189, giving buyers $40 off the regular price. They are also available from other retailers, though pricing may vary.
Despite the arrival of a new color, Google has not expanded the Pixel Buds Pro 2 lineup to five shades. Instead, Olive appears to replace the Moonstone color that launched last year with the Pixel 10 series. The current color selection through Google includes Olive, Hazel, Peony, and Porcelain. However, Moonstone may still be available from select retailers while supplies last.
Beyond the new look, Google is preparing a useful software update for the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a. The update is expected to arrive in September 2026 and will bring several new features focused on smarter controls, improved noise cancellation, and more convenient translation tools.
One of the biggest upgrades coming to the Pixel Buds Pro 2 is Dynamic ANC. This enhanced active noise cancellation feature automatically adapts when it detects small changes in the earbud seal. That means users should continue getting strong noise reduction even if the earbuds shift slightly while walking, exercising, or moving around during the day.
Google is also adding Gemini Audio Control to both the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a. With this feature, users will be able to adjust earbud settings using simple voice commands through Gemini. For example, saying “Hey Google, turn up the bass” will let users change audio settings without opening an app or touching their phone.
Another handy addition is Pixel Watch sleep sync. If a Pixel Watch detects that you have fallen asleep while wearing your earbuds, it can automatically pause playback, turn off touch controls, and silence notifications. This should be especially useful for people who listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks before bed and don’t want audio continuing through the night.
Live Translate is also getting a major upgrade. Users will be able to activate listening mode directly from the earbuds with a tap, removing the need to reach for their phone. Once enabled, the earbuds can help users understand more than 70 languages in real time by translating what another person is saying. When the user responds, their Pixel phone can play the translated message aloud in the other person’s language.
With the new Olive color, improved noise cancellation, Gemini-powered voice controls, sleep-aware playback, and easier real-time translation, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are becoming more useful for everyday listening, travel, and hands-free control. For Pixel phone owners, these updates make Google’s premium earbuds an even stronger companion to the Pixel ecosystem.
