Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked events may be best known for the latest Galaxy S phones, but the accessories announced alongside them often steal plenty of spotlight too. This time, Samsung’s newest true wireless earbuds do exactly that. The freshly revealed Galaxy Buds 4 series introduces a redesigned look, smarter controls, and a standout feature many users will notice immediately: hands-free head gestures for calls, plus a convenient option to use the earbuds as a remote shutter in the camera app.
Meet the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro
Samsung has officially introduced two models: the Galaxy Buds 4 and the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro. Both arrive with a new design language featuring flat metal stems, giving them a more modern, distinctive appearance compared to earlier generations. The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro includes silicone ear tips for a more sealed fit, while the standard Galaxy Buds 4 uses an open-fit design intended for comfort and easier awareness of your surroundings.
The charging case also gets a visual refresh with a transparent lid, and the earbuds now sit horizontally inside the case rather than the previous vertical arrangement.
New gestures, including head controls for calls
The Galaxy Buds 4 series expands gesture support with swipe, pinch, and tap controls. Swiping is limited to an engraved area on the stem to make it easier to use intentionally and reduce accidental inputs.
On the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, Samsung adds head gestures that let you manage calls without touching your phone. You can nod “yes” to answer and shake “no” to decline. These head gestures also work with Bixby, giving users another hands-free way to interact, while traditional voice controls remain available for those who prefer them.
AI features and translation built in
Samsung is leaning into practical AI features with the Buds 4 lineup. Interpreter Mode can activate voice translations and supports up to 22 languages, making the earbuds more useful for travel, conversations, and multilingual situations.
Another notable addition is the ability to access AI chatbots through the Galaxy Buds 4 without unlocking your phone first, streamlining quick questions and requests when you’re on the move.
Audio upgrades and durability ratings
For sound quality and call performance, the Galaxy Buds 4 series supports HD Voice and high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/96KHz.
The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro is the more premium audio option, equipped with both a tweeter and a woofer for a fuller range. It also includes ANC 2.0 with adaptive EQ and carries an IP57 rating for stronger dust and water resistance.
The standard Galaxy Buds 4 uses a single speaker setup, includes ANC 1.0, and has an IP54 rating.
Battery life and charging case playtime
Battery performance varies between the two models:
Galaxy Buds 4 Pro battery life:
– Up to 7 hours with ANC off
– Up to 6 hours with ANC on
– With the charging case: up to 30 hours (ANC off) or 26 hours (ANC on)
Galaxy Buds 4 battery life:
– Up to 6 hours with ANC off
– Up to 5 hours with ANC on
– With the charging case: up to 30 hours (ANC off) or 24 hours (ANC on)
Pricing and release date
Samsung prices the Galaxy Buds 4 at $179 and the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro at $249. Pre-orders are currently live, with in-store availability planned for March 11.
With a bold redesign, improved gesture controls, translation support, and upgraded ANC and audio on the Pro model, the Galaxy Buds 4 series is shaping up to be one of Samsung’s most feature-packed earbuds releases yet—especially for people who want hands-free convenience and smarter daily usability.
