OnePlus Buds Clip Launch With Open-Ear Design, Dual Drivers, and Smart Ear Detection
OnePlus is stepping into the fast-growing open-ear earbuds category with the new OnePlus Buds Clip, a pair of clip-on wireless earbuds designed for comfort, awareness, and high-quality audio. Unlike traditional in-ear earbuds that sit inside the ear canal, the Buds Clip use an open-ear fit that rests around the ear, allowing users to enjoy music while still hearing what is happening around them.
One of the most interesting features of the OnePlus Buds Clip is automatic ear detection. The earbuds have a symmetrical design, so users do not need to worry about which bud goes on the left or right ear. Once attached, the earbuds can recognize their position and automatically adjust the stereo channels for the correct audio experience.
The Buds Clip are built with a flexible C-shaped bridge made from nickel-titanium memory alloy. This material is designed to gently wrap around the ear while maintaining a secure fit without creating too much pressure. Each earbud weighs just 5.2 grams, making them lightweight enough for long listening sessions, workouts, calls, and daily commuting.
Comfort is a major focus for this model. Since the earbuds do not block the ear canal, they are aimed at users who dislike the sealed feeling of standard wireless earbuds. The open design also makes them useful for outdoor activities, office use, and situations where staying aware of traffic, conversations, or announcements is important.
For audio performance, OnePlus has worked with Danish audio brand Dynaudio. Each earbud includes a dual-driver setup made up of an 11 mm woofer and a 9 mm tweeter. This combination is intended to deliver fuller bass, clearer vocals, and more detailed high frequencies than typical single-driver open-ear earbuds.
The OnePlus Buds Clip also support high-resolution wireless audio through the LHDC 5.0 codec. Dual DACs are included to help improve sound processing, while a dipole sound system is designed to reduce audio leakage. That should help keep music more private, although real-world performance will depend on volume levels and the surrounding environment.
Voice calls are handled by six microphones along with a dedicated 6 nm audio chip. This setup is designed to improve call clarity and reduce background noise, making the earbuds suitable for work calls, video meetings, and hands-free conversations while on the move.
Connectivity features are also strong. The Buds Clip support Bluetooth 6.1, dual-device pairing, Google Fast Pair, and Microsoft Swift Pair. This means users can quickly connect the earbuds to Android phones, Windows laptops, and other supported devices. Dual-device connectivity also makes it easier to switch between a smartphone and a computer without constantly reconnecting.
The earbuds come with an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance, giving them added durability for workouts, light rain, and everyday use. While they are not designed for swimming, the rating should be enough for gym sessions and outdoor walking or running.
Battery life is another key selling point. OnePlus claims the Buds Clip can last up to 9.5 hours on a single charge, with the charging case extending total playback time to up to 40 hours. When using LHDC high-resolution audio, battery life drops slightly to around 8 hours per charge and up to 36 hours with the case.
The OnePlus Buds Clip will be available in three color options: Pearl White, Pebble Gray, and Twilight Rose. These colors give the earbuds a more lifestyle-focused look, matching the product’s emphasis on comfort, style, and daily wearability.
Pricing and wider availability have not yet been confirmed. However, with features like open-ear comfort, automatic left-right detection, dual drivers, high-resolution audio support, and long battery life, the OnePlus Buds Clip could become an appealing option for users looking for wireless earbuds that do not isolate them from their surroundings.
