Acer’s Predator Atlas 8 Debuts at $1,299 With Arc G3 Extreme Power, 24GB RAM, and 512GB Storage

Acer Predator Atlas 8 Launches at $1,299 With Intel Arc G3 Extreme, 24GB RAM, and 120Hz Display

Acer is preparing to bring its next-generation gaming handheld, the Predator Atlas 8, back to shelves with an official price of $1,299. The device is listed for sale through Best Buy and is expected to return to stock on November 1 after reportedly selling out quickly during its initial pre-order window.

The Predator Atlas 8 is powered by Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme platform, a Panther Lake-based chip designed for high-performance portable gaming. It combines 14 CPU cores with Intel Arc B390 integrated graphics, featuring 12 Xe3 cores. That makes Acer’s new handheld one of the more powerful Windows gaming handhelds currently targeting the premium portable PC gaming market.

At $1,299, Acer is positioning the Predator Atlas 8 as a more affordable option compared with other handheld gaming PCs using the same Intel Arc G3 Extreme hardware. The trade-off is that Acer’s model comes with 24GB of LPDDR5X memory and 512GB of storage, which is lower than some competing devices.

For most gamers, 24GB of RAM should still be plenty for modern PC games, multitasking, and everyday use. The 512GB storage capacity, however, may feel limited over time, especially as many modern games now require well over 100GB of space. Users who plan to install several large titles may eventually need to rely on storage expansion or external solutions.

The Predator Atlas 8 stands out because of its balance between performance and price. Other Intel Arc G3 Extreme handhelds have appeared with larger memory and storage configurations, but they also come at significantly higher prices. For example, some competing models offer 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, but at prices closer to $1,799. Another device with a similar 24GB RAM and 512GB storage setup is priced around $200 higher than Acer’s handheld.

That gives the Predator Atlas 8 a strong value advantage for buyers who want the performance of Intel’s latest handheld-focused platform without paying top-tier pricing. While it may not offer the largest storage capacity out of the box, it could become one of the most attractive options for gamers looking for a powerful portable gaming PC under the higher premium price brackets.

The handheld also features an 8-inch IPS touchscreen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, giving it a sharper-than-1080p display in a compact form factor. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate, which should help deliver smoother gameplay in supported titles. Acer also lists peak brightness at up to 500 nits, making the display more usable in brighter environments.

Connectivity is another strong point for the Predator Atlas 8. The handheld includes dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, opening the door for high-speed accessories, external displays, docks, and other expansion options. It also supports WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, giving it modern wireless capabilities for faster networking, low-latency accessories, and improved overall connectivity.

With its Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor, 120Hz 8-inch display, Thunderbolt 4 support, WiFi 7, and $1,299 price tag, the Acer Predator Atlas 8 could become one of the most competitive premium handheld gaming PCs of the year. Its main weakness is the 512GB storage capacity, but its lower price may make that compromise easier to accept for buyers focused on raw performance and portability.

The Acer Predator Atlas 8 is expected to be available again on November 1. Given that the first batch reportedly sold out quickly, demand may be strong when the handheld returns to stock.
