MSI’s next wave of gaming handhelds is starting to surface online, and one of the most interesting early sightings is the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ (model CG3EM-013IT). The device has appeared in a retailer listing ahead of launch, revealing a healthy batch of specifications and, most importantly, confirming that it’s built around Intel’s upcoming Arc G3 Extreme system-on-chip.
Intel is preparing to roll out its Arc G3 lineup as a dedicated handheld-focused platform, aiming to compete more directly in the fast-growing gaming handheld space with purpose-built silicon. The Arc G3 family is expected to include two variants: a standard Arc G3 and a more powerful Arc G3 Extreme, which is the chip referenced for this new Claw configuration. While the listing doesn’t provide detailed CPU and GPU breakdowns, the inclusion of the “Extreme” variant signals a performance-oriented model designed for higher-end portable PC gaming.
Where the listing does get specific is the rest of the hardware package. The MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ is shown with 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory, reportedly running at 9600 MT/s. That’s a notable figure for a handheld, pointing to a high-bandwidth setup intended to keep modern games and integrated graphics well-fed. Storage is listed as a 1 TB SSD, giving players plenty of room for larger game installs, with the potential for additional expansion via external options such as a microSD card slot (though expansion details aren’t explicitly confirmed in the listing).
Display specs also help frame what kind of experience MSI is targeting. The handheld is listed with an 8-inch 1920×1080 screen capable of up to a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s described as an IPS-level panel with up to 500 nits of brightness and full 100% sRGB coverage, which should appeal to users who care about color accuracy and visibility across different lighting conditions. Touchscreen support is included as well, rounding out the “portable PC” feel that many buyers expect from a modern Windows-class handheld.
Battery capacity is another highlight: a 4-cell 80Whr pack is listed, which is on the larger side for this category and could translate to improved runtime depending on performance profiles and game settings. Connectivity is also future-friendly, with Wi‑Fi 7 support mentioned in the specs, which could help with lower-latency online play and faster downloads on compatible networks. The package reportedly includes a Claw Travel Case II, suggesting MSI is positioning this as a premium bundle.
Pricing, however, clearly places it in the high-end bracket. The listing shows a price of €1599, which is around €200 higher than a previously listed Claw 8 AI+ model at the same retailer. That jump could be tied to the more advanced configuration, as well as broader pricing pressure from rising memory and storage costs and ongoing supply constraints.
As for availability, early expectations point toward more Intel Arc G3-based handhelds arriving in the second half of the year. If that timeline holds, the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ could be among the first high-profile devices to showcase what Intel’s next-generation handheld silicon can do, especially in the premium segment where buyers want top-tier memory, fast displays, and large batteries in one portable gaming PC.
