Meta CEO Says Quest 3 Surpasses Apple’s Vision Pro Headset

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has shared his perspective on the Apple Vision Pro MR headset through a video on Instagram, comparing it to the Meta Quest 3. Zuckerberg didn’t mince words when he said, “I don’t just think that Quest is the better value, I think Quest is the better product, period.” His review gave viewers a glimpse into the competing features of these mixed-reality headsets.

Superior Features of Meta Quest 3

Zuckerberg highlighted several aspects where the Meta Quest 3 outshines the Vision Pro. His observations include the lighter weight and the absence of wires in the Quest 3, providing a more comfortable and unrestricted experience. Additionally, he mentioned the Quest 3’s advantages such as a wider field of view and a brighter display compared to the Apple headset.

While conceding that the Vision Pro offers sharper displays, Zuckerberg criticized the compromises made to achieve that clarity. He pointed out that Vision Pro’s approach of rendering parts of the screen at a lower resolution to preserve power where the user is not looking seems to be an unfavorable tradeoff. Moreover, he gave the edge to the Quest 3 regarding content availability, stating that it has a “deeper” library for users.

Cost-Effectiveness and Features of Quest 3 Make It a Better Choice

Zuckerberg further asserted that the Quest 3 is superior for “the vast majority of things that people use mixed-reality for.” The price difference is stark, as the Quest 3 is significantly more cost-effective than the Vision Pro, being nearly six times less expensive ($599 vs. $3,499). Additionally, he acknowledged the prowess of the Vision Pro’s eye-tracking feature but elaborated that while the Quest Pro previously included it, the Quest 3 does not. However, he hinted at the return of the eye-tracking feature in future Meta headsets. In a nod to the capabilities of the company’s product, he noted that the video itself was recorded using the Meta Quest 3.

In the competitive landscape of MR headsets, Zuckerberg’s remarks set the stage for a showdown between Meta and Apple’s Vision Pro. Consumers interested in a detailed comparison of the VR experiences can find a YouTube video linked within the original content for further insights.
