Meta is expanding its paid subscription strategy with a global rollout of new consumer plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, while also preparing fresh subscription options for businesses, creators, and Meta AI users.
The company is introducing Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, and WhatsApp Plus as low-cost monthly plans designed for users who want more customization, better insights, and extra tools inside Meta’s most popular apps. Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus are priced at $3.99 per month, while WhatsApp Plus costs $2.99 per month.
Meta says these plans will unlock additional features such as profile customization, enhanced reactions, story insights, premium personalization options, and more. The company also plans to add more features over time, suggesting these subscriptions could become a growing part of the Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp experience.
The move gives Meta another way to generate revenue beyond advertising. With billions of people already using its apps worldwide, the company has limited room for massive user growth across its core platforms. Paid features give Meta a chance to earn more from existing users, especially power users, creators, and businesses that rely heavily on social media.
Instagram Plus is aimed at users who want more control over how they share content and track engagement. Subscribers will be able to see how many people rewatched their Stories in aggregate, create unlimited audience lists beyond the standard Close Friends option, and search their Story viewer list to see who has watched their content.
The plan also includes tools to extend Stories beyond 24 hours, spotlight a Story once per week for added visibility, preview Stories without appearing as a viewer, and post directly to a profile or Highlight without the post appearing in followers’ feeds.
Instagram Plus also adds more visual and creative options, including Super Heart animated reactions for Stories, custom app icons, customizable fonts for profile bios, and additional profile pins. These features could appeal to creators trying to grow their audience, as well as everyday users who want a more personalized Instagram experience.
Facebook Plus offers a similar mix of social expression, profile customization, and engagement-focused tools. Like Instagram Plus, it appears designed for users who want more ways to stand out and better understand how people interact with their content.
WhatsApp Plus takes a different approach, focusing more on personalization and messaging features. Subscribers will gain access to app themes, custom ringtones, more pinned chats, list customization, premium stickers, and other messaging upgrades.
Meta emphasized that these new Plus plans do not replace Meta Verified. Meta Verified remains focused on identity verification, impersonation protection, and additional account support. For now, the Plus subscriptions are separate products centered on extra features and personalization rather than verification.
Alongside the consumer plans, Meta is preparing a broader subscription hub called Meta One. This will become the central brand for the company’s paid offerings, including future plans for artificial intelligence, creators, and businesses.
For Meta AI users, the company will test two paid options: Meta One Plus at $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium at $19.99 per month. Both plans will offer access to expanded AI features, but the Premium plan will provide more capacity for advanced tasks that require higher computing power.
That means Meta One Premium users may get stronger performance for complex AI requests, deeper reasoning capabilities, and expanded image and video generation across Meta’s apps. Meta AI will still remain free for casual users, but paid plans will target people who use AI tools more heavily.
Meta also says future benefits may be added for users of AI-powered glasses, suggesting the company sees subscriptions as part of its larger AI hardware and software strategy.
Testing for the Meta AI subscription plans is expected to begin next month in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia.
Meta is also testing subscription plans for creators and businesses in select markets, including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand, and Bangladesh.
The Meta One Essential plan will cost $14.99 per month and include a verified badge, impersonation protection, and an enhanced link page that allows users to connect audiences to their wider online presence.
The Meta One Advanced plan will cost $49.99 per month and include all Essential benefits, plus more growth-focused tools. Subscribers may be featured in the Facebook feed, appear higher in Facebook and Instagram search results, and use a more prominent Follow button on Reels.
The Advanced plan will also allow automatic follow invitations to be sent to people who engage with a creator’s or business’s content. This could make the plan especially attractive to brands, influencers, and entrepreneurs trying to grow their audience across Facebook and Instagram.
Meta One Advanced will also offer better ways to drive traffic to websites or shops through links in Instagram posts, Instagram Reels, and expanded profile link pages on Facebook and Instagram. Subscribers will get deeper analytics, including competitive insights on Instagram and custom audience insights on Facebook.
Additional tools include optimized scheduling, shared account access for moderators without password sharing, and alerts when someone reuses a creator’s content on Facebook or Instagram. In those cases, users can request a label crediting the original Reel.
Meta says these AI, creator, and business subscriptions are still in the testing stage. Over time, the company plans to bring its paid offerings together under the Meta One brand and continue expanding them with new features.
With Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, WhatsApp Plus, and Meta One, Meta is clearly building a larger subscription ecosystem across its apps. The company is betting that users will pay for more personalization, better visibility, stronger analytics, and advanced AI tools, especially as social media becomes more competitive for creators and businesses.
