Garmin’s Latest Smartwatch Update Unlocks Eight New Features for Users

Garmin Venu X1 update 17.33 rolls out with new golf tools, map upgrades, and quick access features

Garmin is rolling out software version 17.33 for the Venu X1 smartwatch, bringing a fresh set of features aimed at golfers, outdoor users, and anyone who wants faster access to everyday watch controls. The update is part of a wider software release that is also reaching several other Garmin wearables, including the Forerunner 570, Forerunner 970, Venu 4, and vivoactive 6.

One of the biggest additions in Garmin Venu X1 software version 17.33 is a new golf performance glance. This gives users a faster way to review golf-related stats directly from the watch, making the Venu X1 more useful on the course without needing to dig through menus.

Garmin has also improved the Green View map experience. With the latest update, users can now mark a putt, adding more detail to their golf tracking and helping players better understand their performance around the green.

Another golf-focused upgrade is support for Garmin’s Approach CT1 Golf Club Trackers. Venu X1 owners can now connect the smartwatch to these trackers, allowing for more detailed club tracking and improved shot data during rounds.

The update is not just for golfers. Garmin has added support for several position formats when entering coordinates, which should be helpful for hiking, boating, navigation, and other outdoor activities. This makes the Venu X1 more flexible for users who rely on accurate location data in different formats.

Software version 17.33 also introduces a quick access silent mode, giving users a faster way to mute alerts when needed. Whether you are in a meeting, at the movies, or trying to avoid interruptions during a workout, this shortcut should make the watch easier to manage.

Garmin has also made a small but practical keyboard improvement. Users can now swipe up to access the keyboard layout menu, making text input more convenient on the smartwatch.

Outdoor Maps+ users get a useful addition as well. Layer descriptions can now be viewed using QR codes, giving users another way to access more information about map layers and outdoor navigation details.

Another notable feature is the option to navigate back to a previously marked Last MOB point. MOB, or Man Overboard, is an important safety function for water-based activities, and this update makes it easier to return to a marked emergency location if needed.

Garmin software version 17.33 is currently rolling out in stages, with availability reported for around 20% of Venu X1 users at this time. If your watch has not received the update yet, it may arrive automatically over the coming days.

To install the update, Venu X1 owners can connect the smartwatch to Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express. Users can also check manually by opening the watch settings and looking for available software updates.

With version 17.33, the Garmin Venu X1 becomes more capable for golf, outdoor navigation, and everyday use. The combination of new golf tracking tools, improved map features, silent mode access, and coordinate support makes this a worthwhile update for users who want more from their Garmin smartwatch.
