Garmin Rolls Out New Beta Updates With Improved Volume Controls and Stability Fixes
Garmin has started distributing two new beta software updates for several of its latest smartwatches, bringing smoother controls, improved logging options, updated translations, and important bug fixes.
The new beta version 17.30 is available for the Garmin Forerunner 970 and Venu 4, while beta version 17.31 is rolling out to the Forerunner 570, Venu X1, and vivoactive 6. These updates are aimed at improving the everyday user experience across Garmin’s popular fitness and lifestyle smartwatch lineup.
One of the key improvements in the latest Garmin beta updates is better touchscreen volume control. Users should notice enhanced responsiveness when adjusting volume with the on-screen slider, making it easier to fine-tune audio levels directly from the watch. This should be especially useful during workouts, outdoor activities, or daily use when quick adjustments matter.
Garmin has also improved the Nutrition Glance feature. With the new update, users can now log meal times more accurately by entering both the hour and the minute. This gives Garmin smartwatch owners more precise nutrition tracking, which can help with meal planning, fitness goals, and overall health monitoring.
The beta software also includes updated translations for the supported Garmin wearables. Garmin has not specified which languages have been changed, but the update should improve the interface experience for some users in different regions.
Alongside these feature improvements, Garmin has included stability fixes in beta versions 17.30 and 17.31. One bug fix addresses an issue that could cause affected smartwatches to reset unexpectedly. This should make the watches more reliable during daily use and fitness tracking.
A second fix applies to the Forerunner 570, Forerunner 970, Venu 4, and Venu X1. This resolves a problem related to multisport workouts that could cause the smartwatch to freeze or reset. For athletes who rely on multisport tracking, this fix should help ensure smoother performance during training sessions and events.
Garmin says the new beta updates have already reached around half of eligible users across the Forerunner, Venu, and vivoactive smartwatch series. Those who do not want to wait for the automatic rollout can manually check for the update by going into the watch’s system settings and selecting “Check for Updates.”
With improved volume slider responsiveness, more accurate nutrition logging, refreshed translations, and fixes for unexpected resets, Garmin’s latest beta software updates should deliver a more polished experience for Forerunner 970, Forerunner 570, Venu 4, Venu X1, and vivoactive 6 users.
