Meta is rolling out a new wave of paid subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, giving users more ways to personalize their apps, expand their reach, and access extra social features without relying on traditional advertising.
The new plans are called Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, and WhatsApp Plus. According to Meta, these subscriptions will become available to users over the coming weeks, with each app offering a different set of premium tools.
Instagram Plus is priced at $3.99 per month and focuses heavily on visibility, audience control, and customization. One of its key features allows subscribers to see how many people have viewed a Story more than once, giving creators and regular users more insight into audience interest.
Another major upgrade is the ability to create unlimited follower lists. Free Instagram users currently have access to the Close Friends list, but Instagram Plus expands that idea by letting subscribers organize followers into multiple groups. This could be useful for creators, influencers, small businesses, and anyone who wants more control over who sees specific content.
Instagram Plus also gives users the option to keep Stories visible for longer than the standard 24-hour period. In addition, subscribers can highlight a Story once per week to help increase its reach and attract more attention from followers.
A more privacy-focused feature is also included. Instagram Plus subscribers can view other users’ Stories without appearing in the viewer list. This feature may appeal to users who want to browse content more discreetly.
The subscription also includes smaller personalization tools, such as alternative app icons and profile font options. These cosmetic additions are designed to give users more freedom to customize the look and feel of their Instagram experience.
Facebook Plus is also priced at $3.99 per month and offers a similar collection of premium features. Like Instagram Plus, it appears to be aimed at users who want more reach, more customization, and better control over their social presence.
WhatsApp Plus is slightly cheaper at $2.99 per month. Instead of focusing on reach, WhatsApp Plus is centered around personalization and messaging upgrades. Subscribers can customize the full app with themes, use exclusive ringtones, and send premium stickers.
These new Plus subscriptions are separate from Meta Verified, the company’s existing paid verification service. That means users who already pay for Meta Verified may still need to subscribe separately if they want access to Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, or WhatsApp Plus features.
Meta is also preparing additional subscription tiers connected to artificial intelligence. The company plans to introduce Meta One Plus for $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium for $19.99 per month. These AI-focused plans are expected to let users generate images and videos using Meta’s artificial intelligence tools.
A higher-end plan called Meta One Advanced is also planned at $49.99 per month. This subscription appears to be aimed mainly at users who want to boost their reach on Facebook and Instagram, making it potentially useful for creators, brands, and businesses looking for more visibility.
With Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, WhatsApp Plus, and upcoming AI subscriptions, Meta is clearly expanding its paid services strategy. Instead of depending only on ads, the company is creating more premium options for users who want extra features, greater customization, more privacy, and improved reach across its platforms.
