The next big Android camera battle is shaping up for September, and it could be one of the most exciting flagship contests of the year. Xiaomi and Vivo are both expected to launch their next-generation premium phones in China around the same period, with the Xiaomi 18 series and Vivo X500 series leading the charge.
The spotlight will likely fall on the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max and Vivo X500 Pro Max, two camera-focused flagships rumored to bring major imaging upgrades, powerful new sensors, and high-end displays. According to information shared by a well-known industry leaker, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max may take a bold approach by using two 200MP cameras. The main camera is said to feature a large 1/1.28-inch 200MP sensor, supported by the latest LOFIC technology. This should help improve dynamic range, allowing the phone to capture more detail in bright highlights and dark shadows, especially in challenging lighting conditions.
The telephoto camera could also use a 200MP sensor, though slightly smaller at 1/1.56 inches. This camera is expected to offer around 3x optical zoom with an f/2.4 aperture.
