Dell Precision 3280 CFF: A Compact Workstation with Rack-Mounting Capabilities Launching Soon

The arrival of the Dell Precision 3280 Compact Form Factor (CFF) is set to make a significant impact in the realm of mini-PCs, blending powerful 14th Gen Intel Core processors with professional-grade NVIDIA RTX 4000 GPUs and supporting up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 EEC RAM. With its compact design, this workstation is versatile enough to be rack-mounted or neatly tucked behind a monitor.

Dell initially unveiled the Precision 3280 CFF at MWC 2024 in Barcelona, touting it as the world’s smallest workstation equipped to support Tensor Core GPUs. This implies the inclusion of professional discrete graphics cards rather than standard consumer offerings from NVIDIA’s GTX or RTX series. The device is designed with two PCIe x8 slots, accommodating GPUs such as the T400, T1000, RTX 2000, or RTX 4000.

In terms of processing power, the Precision 3280 CFF will feature 14th Gen Intel Core processors, with TDPs of up to 80 W, all packaged in a 206 x 178 x 79 mm case. As for connectivity, the mini-PC will provide an assortment of ports:
– 1x 3.5 mm jack
– 1x Configurable port with options including HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4a, USB Type-C, or VGA
– 3x DisplayPort 1.4a
– 1x RJ45 Ethernet
– 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A (5 Gbps)
– 5x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gbps)
– 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 (20 Gbps)

Storage solutions include two M.2 2280 slots for PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs and two SO-DIMM slots that allow for up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 EEC RAM in dual-channel configuration.

Consumers will not have to wait much longer to get their hands on this innovative workstation, as the Precision 3280 CFF is scheduled to hit the market on March 26. While initial availability may focus on the US market, international release details, as well as pricing, have not yet been disclosed.

As the launch date approaches, the anticipation for the Dell Precision 3280 CFF continues to build, promising a powerful and space-efficient computing solution for professionals in various fields.
