Casio Leak Reveals Titanium G-Shock MRG-BF1000EB-1A With Faceted Sapphire Bezel and a $7,700 Price Tag

A new leak suggests Casio is getting ready to mark the MR-G line’s 30th anniversary with a standout release: the Casio MRG-BF1000EB-1A. Part of the ultra-premium MR-G Frogman family, this upcoming model appears to be a limited-edition professional dive watch with a rumored price of around $7,700 and a production run capped at just 800 units worldwide. An official reveal is expected within the next couple of months, but early renders have already offered a surprisingly detailed preview.

The biggest talking point is the bezel—because it’s unlike anything typically seen on a G-Shock. The MRG-BF1000EB-1A is said to feature a faceted sapphire bezel inspired by Antarctic brinicles, a rare natural phenomenon found beneath frozen ocean surfaces in parts of Antarctica. Brinicles form when extremely cold, salty water sinks through sea ice and instantly freezes the surrounding seawater, creating dramatic, multi-faceted ice structures. Casio appears to have translated that sharp, geometric look into sapphire, resulting in a bezel design that feels both rugged and high-end—an especially fitting match for a watch that sits at the intersection of MR-G luxury and Frogman diving heritage.

Leaning further into the ocean theme, the usual screw positions on the bezel reportedly don’t show exposed fasteners at all. Instead, they’re replaced by deep blue sapphire gem inserts, adding a bold contrast against the darker case. While some early speculation hinted at a full sapphire case, that doesn’t seem to be happening. Sapphire may be extremely scratch-resistant, but it can also be brittle—something Casio likely wants to avoid given G-Shock’s reputation for toughness.

In terms of construction, the leaked details point to a titanium case finished in dark gray DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) with Deep Layer Hardening for added surface durability. The case size is listed as 56 × 49.7 × 18.6 mm, putting it firmly in “serious dive instrument” territory. The caseback is reportedly sapphire as well, featuring a 3D-engraved Frogman frog motif. Even by MR-G standards, the engineering sounds intense: the titanium case is said to use more than 70 individual components, all designed to meet ISO 200-meter water resistance certification for professional diving use.

External metal parts—including the bezel, crown, buttons, and screws—are described as titanium alloy with a titanium carbide finishing process. The primary strap is rumored to be white fluorocarbon rubber, a premium material known for improved resistance to water and chemicals compared to standard rubber, while also feeling softer on the wrist.

Collectors will likely appreciate what’s included in the box, too. The package is said to come with a titanium bracelet in addition to the white strap, plus a dedicated storage case and a quick-swap tool for easy changes between strap and bracelet.

On the features side, the MRG-BF1000EB-1A reportedly includes everything expected from a top-tier Frogman: Bluetooth connectivity, solar charging, multi-band radio time synchronization, dual time, stopwatch, timer, perpetual calendar, and a 30-entry dive log. There’s also a tide indicator displayed via a dedicated scale positioned around 3 o’clock—useful for coastal diving and planning.

One of the most distinctive Frogman diving touches is also expected to return here: while submerged, the hour and minute hands mechanically align and merge into a single pointer, improving legibility underwater when quick reading matters most.

If the leaked pricing holds at roughly $7,700, this would land among the most expensive Casio MR-G releases to date. With only 800 units reportedly planned for global distribution, demand could be intense once Casio makes it official. For now, watch enthusiasts will have to wait for the expected announcement in the coming months, when final specs, availability details, and more official images should confirm exactly what Casio has planned for this striking new limited-edition Frogman.
