Casio G-Shock MRG-B5000SA-2 Leak Reveals a Premium Blue MR-G Anniversary Model
Casio may be getting ready to expand its luxury G-Shock MR-G lineup with a striking new anniversary watch. A leaked image appears to show the upcoming Casio G-Shock MRG-B5000SA-2, a premium square-case model expected to be part of the MR-G 30th anniversary celebration.
The MRG-B5000SA-2 stands out immediately thanks to its bold blue detailing. The leaked render shows blue inserts positioned at the top and bottom of the case, placed between the segmented bezel components. These accents could be made from sapphire crystal or specially finished titanium, though the final material has not yet been confirmed. The “SA” in the model name may hint at the material or design treatment used for these inserts.
Casio appears to be leaning into a refined blue theme for this release. In addition to the case inserts, the buttons seem to feature blue circular accents, giving the watch a more cohesive and distinctive look. The overall case finish also appears to have a deep blue-grey tone, adding to the high-end feel of the design.
One of the most interesting possibilities is the use of an Arc Ion Plating coating, often referred to as AIP. This type of surface treatment is known for improving durability and scratch resistance, somewhat similar in purpose to DLC coating. If Casio has used AIP on the MRG-B5000SA-2, it would fit perfectly with the MR-G line’s reputation for combining advanced materials with premium Japanese craftsmanship.
The new model is expected to be the second MR-G 30th anniversary release, following a high-end Frogman anniversary edition seen earlier this year. Reports also suggest that Casio may be working on a third anniversary model based on the MRG-B2000 series, meaning collectors could see multiple special MR-G watches arrive in the near future.
Like other models in the MRG-B5000 family, the MRG-B5000SA-2 is expected to use a carefully engineered mix of premium metals. The standard MRG-B5000 platform includes a Ti64 titanium case, a DAT55G titanium bracelet that is much harder than pure titanium, and a Cobarion cobalt-chrome bezel alloy known for its impressive strength and polished appearance.
The watch should also include the usual high-end G-Shock MR-G feature set. That likely means Tough Solar charging, Multi-Band 6 radio time calibration, Bluetooth connectivity, sapphire crystal, and 200-meter water resistance. These features would make the MRG-B5000SA-2 not only a collector-focused anniversary piece but also a highly capable everyday luxury watch.
Pricing is expected to sit above $5,000, which would place it firmly in Casio’s premium MR-G category. Given the special anniversary status, advanced materials, and unique blue design elements, the MRG-B5000SA-2 could become one of the most talked-about G-Shock releases of the year.
Casio has not officially announced the model yet, but an unveiling is expected within the next couple of months. If the leak proves accurate, the G-Shock MRG-B5000SA-2 could be a major release for fans of the classic square G-Shock design and collectors looking for a rare MR-G anniversary watch.
