Casio may be getting ready to expand its watch lineup with something enthusiasts have been waiting for: a mechanical model with a titanium case and sapphire crystal. According to early leaked details, the upcoming Casio CMK-100 series could bring a more premium feel to the brand’s affordable watch segment while keeping the clean, practical styling Casio fans know well.
The rumored CMK-100 lineup is expected to include three versions at launch. Each model appears to share the same core watch design, with the main difference being the strap or bracelet option. The CMK-100TC-1A is said to come on a textile strap, the CMK-100TD-1A on a titanium bracelet, and the CMK-100TL-1A on a leather strap.
If the leaked specifications are accurate, all three watches will feature a titanium case and sapphire crystal. That combination would be notable for Casio, especially in a series that may sit closer to the brand’s accessible everyday watch range rather than its higher-end offerings. Titanium is valued for being lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and comfortable on the wrist, while sapphire crystal offers much better scratch resistance than standard mineral glass.
The design shown in the leaked renders appears to lean toward a textured black dial with a finish that resembles decorative plaster or stone-like grain. This gives the watch a more refined look without making it feel overly formal. The dial layout is simple and readable, featuring Arabic numerals at the quarter-hour positions and applied markers between them.
A date window is positioned at 3 o’clock, adding everyday practicality. The leather-strap version reportedly stands out with rose gold-colored hands and markers, giving it a warmer, dressier appearance. The textile and titanium bracelet versions appear to use steel-colored details for a more neutral and versatile style.
Another interesting point is the branding. The dial is expected to carry only the Casio name, rather than being part of a sub-brand such as Edifice. That could suggest Casio is preparing the CMK-100 as its own distinct mechanical watch line, possibly aimed at buyers who want a classic automatic watch but still prefer the reliability and familiarity of the Casio name.
Inside the CMK-100, the movement is rumored to be the Miyota 8215 automatic caliber. This is a well-known Japanese mechanical movement commonly used in affordable automatic watches. It operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, uses 21 jewels, and offers around 42 hours of power reserve.
Accuracy for the Miyota 8215 is typically rated between -20 and +40 seconds per day. Newer versions of the movement also include hacking seconds, allowing the seconds hand to stop when setting the time for more precise adjustment. Older examples of the same caliber did not always include this feature, so final confirmation will depend on Casio’s official specifications.
Water resistance is reportedly rated at 100 meters, which would make the CMK-100 suitable for daily wear and light water exposure. While it would not be a dedicated dive watch, a 100-meter rating is a useful feature for an everyday mechanical watch, especially one designed with durability in mind.
At this stage, Casio has not officially announced the CMK-100 series. Important details such as case size, thickness, weight, release date, and final pricing have not yet been confirmed. Early estimates suggest a possible price range of around $280 to $300, but that remains unverified.
If the leak proves accurate, the Casio CMK-100 could become one of the brand’s most interesting recent releases. A titanium case, sapphire crystal, automatic movement, 100-meter water resistance, and multiple strap options would make it a strong contender in the affordable mechanical watch market.
