BMW iX3 M60 Breaks Cover With 211 Miles of Range in Just 10 Minutes

BMW is preparing to raise the bar for electric SUVs with the upcoming BMW iX3 M60 xDrive, a performance-focused EV that combines strong driving dynamics with impressive battery and charging technology. While power and acceleration will likely attract attention, the biggest highlight may be how far it can travel and how quickly it can recharge.

At the heart of the new BMW iX3 M60 xDrive is a high-voltage battery mounted beneath the floor, designed to improve weight distribution and cabin space while supporting long-distance driving. The battery offers a usable capacity of 108.7 kWh, giving the electric SUV an estimated range of up to 469 miles on the WLTP cycle, based on early factory figures. That range could make it a strong option for drivers who want an electric vehicle capable of handling daily commutes, road trips, and high-performance driving without constant charging stops.

Charging speed is another major selling point. BMW says the iX3 M60 xDrive will support DC fast charging at up to 400 kW. When connected to a compatible 800-volt fast charger, the electric SUV can gain enough energy for around 211 miles of driving in just 10 minutes. For EV buyers concerned about long charging times, this could be one of the model’s most attractive features.

BMW is also focusing heavily on control and handling. To ensure the added performance remains composed and enjoyable, the iX3 M60 xDrive will come with adaptive sport suspension as standard. It will also feature model-specific variable sport steering and an electronically controlled M Sport differential on the rear axle. These systems are designed to give the SUV sharper responses, better traction, and a more confident feel during spirited driving.

A key part of the vehicle’s dynamics is BMW’s new high-performance control unit known as the “Heart of Joy.” This advanced computer coordinates major driving systems and is claimed to process commands up to ten times faster than previous setups. By improving how quickly the vehicle reacts to steering, acceleration, braking, and traction demands, BMW aims to deliver a more precise and connected driving experience.

The BMW iX3 M60 xDrive is expected to become one of the brand’s most important next-generation electric SUVs, blending long range, ultra-fast charging, and M-inspired performance technology. Orders are scheduled to open in late January 2027, while production is planned to begin in spring 2027 at BMW’s new factory in Debrecen, Hungary.
