Xiaomi has introduced a new smart cooling and heating solution in China: the Mi Home Central Air Conditioner with Powerful Duct Unit. The model is now available for pre-order and is being promoted as a “super energy efficient” option, thanks to its Level 1 energy efficiency rating under China’s system.
A key highlight is its annual performance factor (APF) of 4.90, a figure that signals strong efficiency for everyday use. Xiaomi is initially offering a 3HP version, which is claimed to push an airflow rate of 1,560 m³/h (around 55,100 ft³/h). In practical terms, that suggests it’s built to move a lot of air quickly across a space—ideal for larger rooms or multi-room ducted setups.
Speed is another major selling point. Xiaomi says the unit delivers “ultra-fast” performance in both directions: heating can begin in about 60 seconds, while cooling can kick in in roughly 20 seconds. For anyone who hates waiting for a room to become comfortable—especially during heatwaves or cold snaps—those numbers are designed to stand out.
As you’d expect from a Mi Home product, smart features are central to the experience. The air conditioner can connect with other Xiaomi devices for intelligent control routines, and it supports remote management through the Xiaomi app. Voice control is also available via Xiao AI, allowing users to adjust settings hands-free.
Xiaomi is also leaning into air-quality customization with optional add-ons, including a fresh air module, an MIFD filter, and a formaldehyde filter. These extras are aimed at buyers who want more than temperature control—especially households concerned about indoor pollutants and overall air cleanliness.
For more advanced comfort automation, the unit can pair with the Xiaomi Mi Home Intelligent Wind Control Panel. With built-in sensors, the system can detect people in the room and automatically direct airflow toward them or away from them, depending on your preference—an appealing touch for reducing that “cold air blowing directly at me” discomfort.
Design-wise, the internal unit comes in a clean white finish and measures 1,250 mm (about 49.2 inches) long and 198 mm (about 7.8 inches) tall, keeping it relatively slim for duct-style installation.
Pricing in China starts at CNY 8,199 (around $1,179) for the 3HP version. Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed whether this Mi Home central air conditioner will be released outside China, including in Europe. For context, Xiaomi already sells other air conditioning products in parts of Europe, such as the Mijia Air Conditioner Pro Eco 2.6 kW, which has been listed at €599 in certain markets like Spain.
