Upcoming Xiaomi Flagship Outpaces 17 Ultra in Early Benchmark Tests

Xiaomi 17 Max benchmark leak points to powerful performance ahead of China launch

Xiaomi’s next big flagship, the Xiaomi 17 Max, is shaping up to be one of the brand’s most powerful smartphones yet. Ahead of its official launch in China on May 21, the device has reportedly appeared on Geekbench, giving an early look at what users can expect from its performance.

The benchmark listing shows a Xiaomi phone with the model number 2605EPN8EC, believed to be the Xiaomi 17 Max. The device is listed with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with 16GB of RAM. It also appears to be running Android 16, suggesting Xiaomi is preparing the phone with the latest software experience out of the box.

In Geekbench testing, the Xiaomi 17 Max reportedly achieved 3,750 points in the single-core test and 11,674 points in the multi-core test. These results place it slightly ahead of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which scored 3,722 points in single-core and 11,411 points in multi-core testing.

The numbers also put the Xiaomi 17 Max above the current average for Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 smartphones. Devices using the same chipset currently average around 3,651 points in single-core performance and 11,188 points in multi-core performance. If these early results are accurate, Xiaomi may have tuned the 17 Max for stronger real-world speed, smoother multitasking, and improved gaming performance.

Beyond raw performance, the Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to stand out with major hardware upgrades. Xiaomi has already revealed that the phone will feature a 200MP main camera, making it the only model in the Xiaomi 17 lineup to use such a high-resolution primary sensor. Other models in the series reportedly rely on a 50MP main camera.

Battery life could be another major selling point. The Xiaomi 17 Max is confirmed to pack an 8,000mAh battery, the largest in the Xiaomi 17 family. That capacity should appeal to users who want long-lasting endurance for gaming, streaming, photography, travel, and heavy daily use.

The phone will also feature a large 6.9-inch display, matching the screen size of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. With a big panel, flagship processor, large battery, and 200MP camera, the Xiaomi 17 Max appears to be positioned as a premium device for power users who want top-tier performance and high-end imaging in one package.

Xiaomi is also preparing to bring its new Xiaomi 17T series to global markets, signaling a busy launch period for the company. For now, attention is firmly on the Xiaomi 17 Max, which could become one of the most exciting Android flagship phones of the year if its leaked benchmark results and confirmed specifications hold up at launch.
