Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Makes a Bold Comeback With Tomb Raider Flair and Purple Pop

Timex has brought back its Intrepid x Dimepiece collaboration with a darker, sharper new look. The latest release, called the Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Blackout Edition, updates the popular watch with an all-black stainless steel case, a cream dial, and eye-catching purple details that give it a bold, adventure-ready personality.

The new model continues the partnership between Timex, Dimepiece founder Brynn Wallner, and Foundwell’s Alan Bedwell. It follows the success of the previous Intrepid x Dimepiece release while keeping the same compact, wearable proportions. Although the original Timex Intrepid from 1995 featured a much larger 46mm case, this modern edition sticks with a more versatile 36mm stainless steel case.

The Blackout Edition, listed as model TW6A19800, measures 10mm thick and has a 40mm lug-to-lug length. It weighs around 58.5 grams, making it light enough for everyday wear while still feeling sturdy on the wrist. The black case finish gives the watch a sleek, stealthy appearance, while the cream-colored dial adds contrast and improves readability.

Purple accents help the watch stand out without making it feel overly flashy. Timex has used the color on the seconds hand, the 12 o’clock hour marker, and the dedicated INDIGLO backlight button positioned at 9 o’clock. These small touches add personality to the otherwise dark design and help separate the Blackout Edition from the earlier version.

The watch also includes several distinctive design features. The hour and minute hands are skeletonized, giving the dial a more technical look. A rotating bezel allows wearers to track elapsed time, while the crown is placed near the 4 o’clock position instead of the more traditional 3 o’clock location. This unusual crown placement adds to the watch’s unique profile and may also improve comfort on the wrist.

Timex has paired the Blackout Edition with a black nitrile butadiene rubber strap, commonly known as NBR rubber. The strap features embossed Timex INDIGLO branding and measures 18mm wide. Quick-release spring bars make it easy to swap the strap without tools, giving owners the option to customize the watch with different bands.

Inside, the Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Blackout Edition uses a battery-powered quartz movement. Timex has not revealed the exact movement caliber, but quartz technology should offer reliable timekeeping with minimal maintenance. The watch is protected by a mineral crystal and carries a 100-meter water resistance rating, making it suitable for swimming and everyday water exposure.

One of the most practical features is Timex’s INDIGLO illumination system. With a press of the side button, the dial lights up for easy reading in dark or low-light environments. It is a signature Timex feature and fits well with the rugged, functional character of the Intrepid design.

According to Timex, the Blackout Edition draws some visual inspiration from Lara Croft of Tomb Raider, which explains its adventurous styling and action-ready aesthetic. Even so, the update is mostly visual rather than mechanical. The core specifications remain close to the previous Intrepid x Dimepiece model, with the main changes focused on color, finish, and overall attitude.

The Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Blackout Edition is currently priced at £225 in the UK and $269 in the US. With its compact case, blacked-out finish, cream dial, purple accents, 100-meter water resistance, and INDIGLO backlight, it offers a stylish blend of vintage Timex character and modern adventure-inspired design.
