Timex and Dimepiece Bring Back the 1995 Intrepid Sailing Watch in a Compact 36mm with Cream Dial and Purple Highlights

Timex has teamed up with Brynn Wallner, founder of Dimepiece, and vintage watch curator Alan Bedwell of Foundwell to bring back a classic with a modern twist. They’ve reimagined the 1995 Intrepid sailing watch, a favorite of John F. Kennedy Jr., now called the Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Edition.

The original Intrepid was known for its large 46 mm case, slide-rule bezel for nautical use, and Indiglo illumination—features that made it perfect for sailing and water sports. JFK Jr.’s fondness for the watch added to its iconic status.

In this new edition, the timepiece has been scaled down to a more versatile 36 mm stainless-steel case, making it suitable for different wrist sizes. The dial now features a vintage cream color with black markers, enhancing readability. Timex’s signature Indiglo button is now in a distinctive purple, matching both the second hand and hour markers. The back of the case is co-branded with Timex and Dimepiece logos.

Some original features remain intact: the crown is positioned at 4 o’clock, it has a rotating bezel, is water-resistant up to 100 meters, and maintains its quartz analog movement. The watch comes with a durable synthetic rubber strap and a mineral crystal face.

Wallner’s discovery of JFK Jr. wearing the original sparked the collaboration. The redesigned watch signifies a shift towards functional, gender-neutral timepieces, moving away from overly delicate designs.

Priced at $239, the Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Edition is now available through Timex, Dimepiece, Todd Snyder, and other retailers.
