Sony Unveils Boldly Designed Wireless Earbuds Promising 9 Hours of Playback

Sony has officially introduced its newest true wireless earbuds, the LinkBuds Clip, designed for people who want an all-day comfortable fit without the “plugged ear” feeling of traditional in-ear buds. With an open-ear clip-style design, these earbuds aim to compete directly with other open-fit options on the market while focusing on comfort, awareness, and long battery life.

Unlike conventional earbuds that sit inside the ear canal, the LinkBuds Clip use an unusual clip that rests around the outer ear. By distributing weight across the ear instead of pressing inward, the design is meant to feel lighter over long listening sessions and more suitable for wearing throughout the day. Because there are no ear tips creating a seal, you don’t need a dedicated transparency or ambient mode to hear what’s happening around you—your ears remain naturally aware of your environment.

That open design does come with an important trade-off: you shouldn’t expect strong passive noise isolation. To help address some of the typical downsides of open-ear earbuds, Sony includes software features such as Voice Boost and Sound Leakage Reduction, intended to improve call clarity and reduce how much audio escapes for people nearby.

Battery life is one of the headline features. Sony says the LinkBuds Clip can deliver up to 9 hours of playback on a single charge, with a total of up to 37 hours when you include the charging case. For daily commuting, office use, or extended wear, that combination of open-ear comfort and long runtime is clearly the main pitch.

The LinkBuds Clip also carry an IPX4 water resistance rating, making them better suited for workouts, walks, and everyday exposure to sweat or light rain. For audio tuning, a 10-band equalizer is included so users can shape the sound to match their preferences. On the connectivity side, the earbuds support AAC and SBC Bluetooth codecs, rather than higher-end codec options.

Sony is selling the LinkBuds Clip in four color choices: Black, Greige, Green, and Lavender. Pricing is set at $229.99 in the United States, €199 in Europe, and £179.99 in the United Kingdom, with global availability already underway.
