Samsung Display unveils 4K 360Hz QD-OLED monitor with Penta Tandem technology and ultra-slim laptop panel
Samsung Display has introduced a major new range of display technologies at Computex in Taipei, showcasing a broad lineup that covers everything from compact 8.8-inch panels to massive 49-inch screens. In total, the company presented 16 new display products, including gaming monitors, self-emissive OLED panels, and next-generation laptop display technology.
The biggest highlight is Samsung Display’s first 4K 360Hz QD-OLED monitor featuring RGB Penta Tandem technology. This new panel is designed to deliver a major leap in brightness, color performance, and visual clarity by using a five-layer RGB structure. Compared with conventional OLED designs, the added layers help improve overall image quality while maintaining the fast response and deep contrast that OLED displays are known for.
Samsung Display says this is the world’s first self-emissive display to combine 4K resolution with a 360Hz refresh rate. That combination makes it especially appealing for high-end gaming, esports, and premium PC setups where both sharp image detail and ultra-smooth motion are important.
A 4K OLED monitor running at 360Hz could become one of the most advanced gaming displays on the market. The high resolution is ideal for detailed visuals, while the 360Hz refresh rate is built for competitive gameplay where every millisecond matters. Alongside the 4K 360Hz QD-OLED monitor, Samsung Display also introduced a 34-inch self-emissive OLED monitor with QHD+ resolution. While the company has not shared detailed specifications, the display has received True Black 500 certification, indicating strong black-level performance and enhanced contrast.
The 34-inch format is popular among gamers, productivity users, and creators because it offers a wide viewing area without taking up as much space as larger ultrawide monitors. Combined with OLED technology, this panel could deliver an immersive viewing experience with fast response times, vivid colors, and excellent dark-scene performance.
Samsung Display’s monitor showcase also includes 27-inch and 31.5-inch OLED options, giving users more choices across different sizes and use cases. These panels are likely aimed at mainstream premium gaming monitors, professional displays, and high-end consumer setups.
Another important announcement from Samsung Display is its new Ultra Slim panel technology for laptops. This display technology is still under development, but it is designed to help notebook makers create thinner and lighter devices.
According to Samsung Display, the Ultra Slim panel reduces the module’s outer-edge thickness by more than 20%. The company achieved this by etching both the Thin Film Transistor substrate glass and the encapsulation glass. This process allows the panel structure to become thinner without sacrificing the display’s core functionality.
For laptop manufacturers, this could be a significant improvement. Thinner display modules can lead to slimmer laptop lids, lighter overall designs, and more modern-looking devices. It may also give manufacturers more flexibility when designing premium ultrabooks, foldable devices, and portable workstations.
Samsung Display’s latest announcements show where the premium display market is headed: higher refresh rates, sharper resolutions, better OLED performance, and thinner form factors.
