Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra leak points to a familiar design with a major chip upgrade
A new leak has offered an early look at what could be Samsung’s next premium Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. While the tablet appears to keep much of the same formula as its predecessor, one key internal upgrade may be the biggest reason to pay attention.
The leaked image shows the rear of the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra with three metal connector pins, likely designed for attaching a keyboard case. This suggests Samsung is continuing to position its Ultra tablet as a productivity-focused device for users who want a laptop-style experience in a slim tablet body.
According to current rumors, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra may retain several major hardware features from the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. That includes a large 14.6-inch AMOLED display, an 11,600 mAh battery, and 45W fast charging through USB-C. If accurate, this means Samsung may not be making major changes to the screen size, battery capacity, or charging speed this time around.
The most important upgrade appears to be the processor. A benchmark leak suggests that Samsung is preparing to use the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 in the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. This would mark a notable shift for Samsung’s flagship tablet lineup and could give the device strong performance for multitasking, gaming, streaming, creative work, and productivity apps.
The Dimensity 9500 is expected to be a powerful flagship chip, with performance reportedly close to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. That should make the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra one of the fastest Android tablets on the market if the leak is accurate.
However, the tablet may still face tough competition from Apple’s latest iPad Pro. Early performance comparisons suggest the Apple M5 remains far ahead, offering around 56 percent stronger CPU performance and more than double the GPU performance. For users focused on raw creative power, video editing, 3D work, or demanding professional apps, Apple may still hold a major advantage.
Even so, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra could appeal to Android users who want a huge AMOLED display, long battery life, keyboard support, and flagship-level performance in a premium tablet. Samsung’s Ultra tablets have built a reputation for immersive media consumption and serious multitasking, and the Tab S12 Ultra seems likely to continue that approach.
For now, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra remains unannounced, and the leaked details should be treated as early information rather than confirmed specifications. Still, if Samsung combines its massive AMOLED display with the Dimensity 9500 and a familiar productivity-focused design, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra could become one of the most interesting Android tablets to watch.
