Casio May Be Preparing a Tough Solar Luxe Black G-Shock CasiOak With Bluetooth
Casio’s stealthy Luxe Black G-Shock lineup could be getting a major upgrade before the end of the year. A new report suggests that the brand may be preparing a third model in the Luxe Black series, and this one could bring two features fans have been waiting for: Tough Solar charging and Bluetooth connectivity.
According to watch-focused reports, the rumored model is expected to follow the same dark, premium design language as the current Luxe Black CasiOak watches. However, instead of being based on the GM-2100 platform, the new version may use the GBM-2100 as its foundation. If accurate, that would make it the first Luxe Black CasiOak-style model in this line to offer solar charging and smart connectivity through the Casio Watches app.
The current GM-2100LXB models use module 5611 and run on a coin-cell battery rated for around three years of use. A GBM-2100-based Luxe Black version would be a meaningful upgrade because Tough Solar charging reduces the need for battery replacements, while Bluetooth support enables useful connected features.
With Bluetooth, the watch can sync with a smartphone for automatic time correction, access a time and place log, and help locate a misplaced phone using the phone finder function. These features would make the new model more practical for everyday wear while keeping the rugged, low-profile look that makes the Luxe Black series stand out.
Design-wise, the rumored watch is not expected to be a dramatic departure from the existing Luxe Black releases. Both the GM-2100 and GBM-2100 platforms use a resin case paired with a stainless steel bezel, so the biggest changes would likely be inside the watch rather than on the outside.
The Luxe Black G-Shock series launched in Japan on June 19 and quickly gained attention for being more than a simple black color update. Casio gave the watches a redesigned dial with a matte black, fine-textured finish that helps absorb light and create a deeper, more understated look. The models also feature slim new hands and redesigned vapor-deposited hour markers, giving the familiar CasiOak shape a sharper and more refined personality.
The metal-bezel GM-2100LXB-1AJF with silver accents and GM-2100LXB-1A9JF with gold accents are priced at 32,450 yen in Japan and $260 in the United States. Casio also offers more affordable resin-bezel GA-2100LXB versions, priced at 20,900 yen in Japan and $145 in the U.S.
If the rumored GBM-2100-based Luxe Black model arrives, it will almost certainly cost more than the current GM-2100LXB editions. Existing GBM-2100A models are priced at 37,400 yen in Japan, about 5,000 yen higher than the GM-2100LXB. That price difference makes sense, given the added Tough Solar and Bluetooth hardware.
For now, Casio has not officially confirmed a new Luxe Black G-Shock model. Still, the possibility of a solar-powered, Bluetooth-enabled Luxe Black CasiOak is likely to excite collectors and everyday G-Shock fans alike. The current models already deliver a clean, stealth-inspired design, and adding modern convenience features could make the next version one of the most appealing CasiOak releases of the year.
