Casio MR-G 30th Anniversary Leak Points to a Platinum-Treated G-Shock CasiOak
Casio may be preparing a striking new addition to its premium G-Shock MR-G lineup, and early details suggest this could be one of the brand’s most distinctive CasiOak models yet. A newly leaked watch, reportedly called the Casio MRG-B2100HR-1A, is believed to be connected to the 30th anniversary of the MR-G series and may arrive as a special limited-edition release.
According to information shared by Great G-Shock World, the upcoming MR-G model has appeared through overseas watch-community channels and tipster reports. While Casio has not officially confirmed the watch, the leaked image and early descriptions point to a high-end G-Shock with an unusual grey finish and a premium surface treatment that may involve platinum.
The most eye-catching detail is the exterior finish. The leaked model appears to feature a grey-toned case, bezel, bracelet, and dial, but the texture does not look like a standard brushed or polished metal finish. Reports claim the band, bezel top, and dial use a special treatment that could be based on platinum. Even more interesting, the process is said to create a pattern that varies from one watch to another, meaning each piece could have its own unique visual character.
That would make the MRG-B2100HR-1A especially appealing to collectors. Limited-edition G-Shock watches already tend to attract strong interest, but a premium MR-G model with individually varied surface patterns could make this release feel more personal and exclusive.
The dial is also expected to be a major highlight. Reports suggest Casio has taken inspiration from kigumi, a traditional Japanese woodworking and joinery technique known for interlocking structures that do not rely on nails. In this watch, the lattice-style dial design reportedly allows light to pass through to the solar panel beneath, helping power the Tough Solar system.
This design approach is not entirely new for Casio’s premium CasiOak range, as the brand has already used a kigumi-inspired dial on an existing MR-G B2100 model. However, combined with the rumored platinum-like treatment and anniversary positioning, the MRG-B2100HR-1A could offer a more luxurious and collectible take on the concept.
In terms of specifications, the watch is expected to include the familiar feature set found in modern MR-G models. That likely means Tough Solar charging, radio-controlled timekeeping, Bluetooth connectivity, 200-meter water resistance, a full auto calendar, and an LED light. These are practical features that help separate the MR-G line from ordinary luxury watches, blending premium materials with the durability and functionality G-Shock is known for.
Pricing has not been confirmed, but current MR-G CasiOak models provide some context. The standard MRG-B2100D-1AJR is sold in Japan for ¥572,000, which is roughly around $3,630. If the leaked MRG-B2100HR-1A does feature a platinum-related treatment and launches as a limited anniversary model, it could carry a significantly higher price.
The leak also points to another special model in development: a gold MR-G CasiOak. Details remain limited, but it is reportedly planned as a companion release to the grey MRG-B2100HR-1A. The price is said to be very high, suggesting Casio may be preparing an ultra-premium pair of anniversary watches aimed squarely at serious G-Shock collectors.
For now, Casio has not announced the MRG-B2100HR-1A or the rumored gold version. Until official details arrive, the specifications, pricing, and release timeline should be treated as unconfirmed. Still, if the leak proves accurate, Casio’s MR-G 30th anniversary lineup could include one of the most luxurious and visually unique G-Shock CasiOak watches ever released.
