Cadence System has made a groundbreaking announcement by introducing the world’s first PCIe 7.0 IP over optics, achieving an astonishing 128 GT/s transfer speeds. This innovation demonstrates the company’s commitment to leading the industry in high-speed computing solutions.
During a recent prominent industry event, Cadence captured the attention of participants and attendees by showcasing the impressive capabilities of its PCIe 7.0 IP’s transmission and reception (TX/RX) over a high-performance, low-latency optical connector. The demonstration was a significant milestone, highlighting the technology’s stable and consistent performance, well within the stringent pre-FEC bit error rate (BER) requirements of the PCIe specifications.
The robust PCIe 7.0 setup achieved a remarkable pre-FEC BER of about 3E-8 over the two-day span of the event, showcasing an ample allowance for RS FEC and ensuring reliability. The receiver Eye PAM4 histograms recorded during the demonstration stood as a testament to the solution’s linearity and margin, signaling a new era of data transfer capabilities.
Further enhancing the discussion on PCIe technology, Anish Mathew, a renowned PCIe controller architect at Cadence, delivered valuable insights into the “Impact of UIO ECN on PCIe Controller Design and Performance.” His talk underscored the strides the Cadence design team has taken to bring these innovations to fruition.
Cadence solidified its leading position with a record number of PCIe demonstrations at the event, ranging from PCIe 7.0 showcased in both optic and electrical formats to PCIe 6.0 demonstrations covering a variety of interoperations, protocol analyses, and system-level interoperability demonstrations with different platforms.
The successful demonstrations were the result of collaboration with multiple vendors, highlighting Cadence’s IP for PCIe 6.0, and drew significant attention from the attendees, further establishing Cadence’s dominance in this technological domain.
The reveal of the PCIe 7.0 over optics and its display of an array of demonstrations send a clear message about the swift advancements in PCIe technology, reinforcing a future of increased speeds and efficiencies in the realm of digital data transfer.
