After nearly four years since acquiring Tile for $205 million, Life360 has officially integrated Tile’s item-tracking capabilities into its main app. This exciting update allows users to track both family members and valuables like wallets, keys, and bags all in one place, offering a more streamlined experience.
With this integration, Life360 aims to consolidate its user base, encouraging Tile users to transition to the Life360 app as their primary tracking tool. Starting Wednesday, this update will be rolled out gradually, reaching all users in the coming weeks.
Tile users will soon see prompts guiding them to the Life360 app, while existing Life360 users will notice a new feature for item tracking under the Location tab. This update enables real-time mapping of Tiles when they are with a family member. Users can review up to two days of location history for free, while those on subscription plans enjoy extended history access—Gold and Platinum plans offer 30 days, and Silver members get seven days. Silver members now also benefit from emergency services through Tile SOS or the Life360 app, specifically with 2024 Tile devices.
Additionally, Life360 will soon introduce automatic notifications for items left behind, enhancing user convenience. This functionality is expected to be available in the next few weeks.
Recently, Life360 redirected the Tile.com domain to its own website, signaling a closer integration. While the standalone Tile app remains active for now, it’s uncertain how long it will continue once all functionalities are incorporated into Life360’s app.
This integration was initially announced in 2022, with the vision of creating the largest network by having all Life360 users join Tile. However, the delay in rollout has allowed competitors like Chipolo to advance, releasing trackers compatible with Apple and Google’s networks. As the market evolves, Life360’s latest update marks a significant stride in the competitive landscape of item tracking.
