LG is refreshing its 32-inch UltraGear OLED gaming monitor lineup with the new UltraGear 32GX870B, and the upgrades focus on two things gamers actually notice day to day: price and brightness.
In Japan, LG has set the UltraGear 32GX870B at JPY 169,800 (about $1,081). That’s positioned as roughly an 18% drop compared to the older 32GX870A. However, when you compare how LG typically prices this series internationally, that Japan figure could translate to around $1,230 in the US based on the previous model’s original suggested retail price. In other words, it’s a meaningful cut in its home market, while global pricing may land higher depending on region and launch strategy.
The bigger story is the panel change. The 32GX870B uses LG’s 4th-Gen Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel, and it brings a noticeable bump in brightness. In SDR, the monitor is about 20% brighter than the previous generation, reaching 335 nits. That matters for everyday desktop use, brighter rooms, and games that are played outside a dark setup.
HDR performance also gets a lift. LG rates the 32GX870B at up to 1,500 nits in HDR, which is described as about a 15% improvement over the prior model. For HDR gaming, that extra headroom can help highlights pop more convincingly in scenes with explosions, sun glare, neon lighting, and high-contrast environments.
Beyond the brightness gains, LG is sticking with the core specs that made the series appealing in the first place. You still get a 4K native resolution on a 32-inch OLED panel, along with the monitor’s signature Dual Mode refresh options: 240 Hz and 480 Hz. That setup is designed for players who want maximum detail at 4K for single-player and cinematic titles, then the option to switch into an ultra-high refresh mode for competitive esports-style gaming where motion clarity and responsiveness are the priority.
With a lower starting price in Japan, higher SDR brightness, and stronger HDR peak performance—all while retaining 4K and Dual Mode 240 Hz/480 Hz—the LG UltraGear 32GX870B looks like a meaningful generational update for OLED gaming monitor shoppers who want premium specs without giving up speed.
