Garmin and Bosch are teaming up to make e-bike rides smarter, with a new integration designed to share key ride data between Bosch-powered e-bikes and Garmin devices. The announcement is part of the wider Bosch eBike Systems Innovations 2026 rollout, and it signals a bigger push toward connected cycling gear that works seamlessly across brands.
At the heart of the update is the Bosch Live Data Interface, a feature that lets riders see important e-bike information in real time on a connected device. That could be a bike computer, but Bosch also points to other gadget types like smartwatches, helmets, or even smart glasses. The idea is simple: keep essential ride stats visible without forcing riders to stop and check a separate display.
The real-time metrics supported by the Live Data Interface include the basics riders care about most on every trip—speed, time, and distance—along with e-bike-specific details that matter for planning and security. Riders can view remaining battery level at a glance, and even check the eBike Lock status, which can be especially useful when parking or taking quick breaks during a ride.
On Garmin’s side, the new Bosch data-sharing integration is already starting to reach users through a beta software update for Garmin Edge bike computers. It’s included in beta version 31.23 and is rolling out across several compatible Edge models. Supported devices include the Edge MTB, Edge 540, Edge 840, Edge 1040, and the newer Edge 550, Edge 850, and Edge 1050.
For cyclists wondering when it will arrive for everyone, the timing for a stable release hasn’t been confirmed yet. There’s also no clear answer on whether Garmin smartwatches will gain Bosch integration support in the future, though the broader mention of watches as potential Live Data Interface screens suggests it’s a possibility worth watching.
Bosch’s 2026 innovation package also highlights a performance-focused upgrade aimed at riders who want more punch on the trail or quicker response in demanding conditions. The new Performance Upgrade 2.0 is described as delivering stronger acceleration, with up to 120 Nm of torque and up to 600% motor support. Bosch is also refining its Extended Boost feature, and riders will be able to customize how it behaves through the eBike Flow app, tailoring the feel of the assist to different riding styles and terrain.
For riders who love jumps and technical tricks, Bosch is adding another attention-grabber: Trick Check. This feature can automatically detect maneuvers such as jumps, wheelies, and stoppies, bringing a more playful, performance-tracking angle to e-bike riding—especially for mountain bike and freeride fans who want their sessions recorded in a more meaningful way.
Taken together, the Garmin and Bosch integration plus Bosch’s new 2026 e-bike features point to a future where e-bike systems aren’t just about motor power—they’re about connected data, customization, and ride experiences that feel more personalized every time you head out.
