The lineup includes the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 9 IPL and the larger Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 9 IPL, with pricing starting at $1,229.
Both models are now listed for purchase through Lenovo in the US after their earlier international rollout. At the entry price, buyers get an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor, 16GB of DDR5-5600 memory, and a 256GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. For users who want more performance, Lenovo offers an upgrade to the Intel Core Ultra 7 355 for an additional $150. Memory can also be increased to 32GB for $195 more.
While the Core Ultra 7 355 is the higher-end chip in the configuration list, performance gains over the Core Ultra 5 325 appear to be modest, landing at roughly 5% in benchmark comparisons. Even so, these new ThinkBook models are designed more for efficient everyday productivity than for heavy workstation-class workloads. Tasks such as web browsing, document editing, video conferencing, spreadsheet work, and light creative use should fit comfortably within their target audience.
Storage options in the US currently top out at 1TB, but Lenovo has included a second M.2 SSD slot. In practical testing of the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 9 IPL, the laptop lasted around eight hours and 40 minutes during a Wi-Fi web browsing test. That is still enough for a typical workday for many users, but it is notably below Lenovo’s maximum advertised estimate.
