Japanese Watchmaker Unveils Ultra-Rare Automatic Timepiece Featuring Genuine Meteorite Dial

Japanese Watchmaker Knis Celebrates Five Years With a Limited Meteorite Dial Automatic Watch

Japanese watch brand Knis is marking its fifth anniversary with a striking limited-edition automatic watch that brings a real piece of space to the wrist. The new KN001-MTRGLM features a genuine Muonionalusta meteorite dial, a rose-gold-colored stainless steel case, and a crocodile-leather strap, creating a compact dress watch with an unusually cosmic centerpiece.

Limited to just 100 individually numbered pieces worldwide, the anniversary model is priced at ¥108,900 in Japan, including tax, and £622 through the brand’s UK storefront. The watch officially went on sale in Japan on November 2, 2026, and is also being offered with international shipping.

What makes this Knis anniversary watch stand out is its dial. Instead of a standard painted, lacquered, or patterned surface, the watch uses a slice of genuine Muonionalusta meteorite, a rare iron meteorite discovered in Sweden. Its natural Widmanstätten pattern gives the dial a dramatic web of intersecting metallic lines, formed as the material cooled extremely slowly over millions of years.

Because every section of meteorite has a different crystalline structure, no two dials are exactly alike. That means each of the 100 watches has its own unique appearance, making the limited production run feel even more personal for collectors.

The design also carries symbolic value for the brand. Knis began its watchmaking journey with a meteorite-dial model, and this fifth-anniversary release revisits that idea with a refined and updated execution.

The watch measures approximately 38 mm in diameter and 11 mm thick, giving it a compact profile that should appeal to those who prefer smaller automatic watches. At around 73 g, it is also light enough for daily wear. The case is made from stainless steel with a rose-gold-colored finish, paired with sapphire crystal and an anti-reflective coating for improved legibility.

Inside the watch is a Japanese Miyota Calibre 8215 automatic movement. This movement supports both automatic winding and manual winding, with Knis listing a maximum power reserve of 42 hours. It also includes a hacking seconds function, allowing the seconds hand to stop when setting the time for more precise adjustment.

Other practical features include 10 ATM water resistance, a screw-in transparent caseback, and a folding clasp. The watch is assembled in Japan and comes with a one-year warranty.

Each piece is individually engraved with its production number, such as 001/100, reinforcing the exclusivity of the release. The Knis fifth-anniversary meteorite watch is available through the brand’s online store and its Sanjo Teramachi flagship shop in Kyoto.

With a real meteorite dial, Japanese automatic movement, limited 100-piece production, and compact case size, the Knis KN001-MTRGLM is aimed at collectors who want something more distinctive than a conventional dress watch. It combines traditional watchmaking with a material that has traveled far beyond Earth, turning every dial into a small, wearable fragment of cosmic history.
