Seiko Dives Deep with Limited-Edition Prospex Watches in Signature Blue

Seiko Prospex HBC005 and HBB001 Bring Signature Seiko Blue to Two Limited-Edition Dive Watches

Seiko is marking its 145th anniversary with a growing collection of special-edition watches, and the latest additions are built for dive watch fans. The brand has introduced two limited-edition Prospex models, the HBC005 and HBB001, both featuring silver-white dials, vintage-inspired styling, and accents in the brand’s signature Seiko Blue.

While both watches share the same celebratory theme, they target different buyers. The Seiko Prospex HBC005 is the more premium model, offering a higher-grade automatic movement, stronger water resistance, and a design inspired by Seiko’s first diver from 1965. The Seiko Prospex HBB001 is the more accessible option, bringing much of the same anniversary character at a significantly lower price.

The standout design detail on both watches is the use of Seiko Blue, a deep and recognizable shade associated with the brand for decades. On the HBB001, the blue appears on a distinctive dual-tone rotating bezel, giving the watch a sportier and more playful personality. On the HBC005, the blue is used on the unidirectional bezel and seconds hand, creating a sharper contrast against the clean silver-white dial.

The Seiko Prospex HBC005 is the stronger performer of the two. It uses the Caliber 6R55 automatic movement, which supports manual winding and delivers an impressive power reserve of approximately 72 hours. That means the watch can be taken off for a weekend and still be running when picked up again.

Its 40mm stainless steel case keeps the proportions compact and wearable, while its design draws from Seiko’s original 1965 diver. The HBC005 also offers 300 meters of water resistance, making it a serious tool watch as well as a collectible anniversary release. A curved sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating adds durability and improves visibility, while LumiBrite on the hands, markers, and bezel supports readability in low-light conditions.

The Seiko Prospex HBB001 takes a slightly different approach. It features a larger 41.7mm stainless steel case and is powered by the Caliber 4R35 automatic movement. This movement offers manual winding, a stop-seconds function, a date display, and a power reserve of around 41 hours.

Although its 200 meters of water resistance is lower than the HBC005, it is still more than enough for recreational diving and everyday sports use. The HBB001 also comes with a Hardlex mineral crystal and a stainless steel bracelet with a secure clasp and extender. Its more affordable price makes it an appealing choice for buyers who want a limited-edition Seiko Prospex diver without stepping into the higher price range.

Both models include screw-down crowns, unidirectional rotating bezels, stainless steel bracelets, magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m, and screw case backs with limited-edition engravings. These details reinforce their identity as purpose-built dive watches while adding collectibility for Seiko fans.

The Seiko Prospex HBC005 will be limited to 4,000 pieces worldwide. It is priced at $1,400 in the US, ¥192,500 in Japan, £1,300 in the UK, €1,500 in Europe, and AUD 2,200 in Australia.

The Seiko Prospex HBB001 will be produced in a larger run of 9,999 pieces worldwide. It is priced at $595 in the US, ¥83,600 in Japan, £560 in the UK, €650 in Europe, and AUD 950 in Australia.

Both limited-edition Prospex dive watches are expected to launch in June in the US, Japan, the UK, Australia, and Europe.
