Huawei Unveils Globally the Watch Ultimate Design, Finished in 24K Gold Plating

Huawei has officially confirmed a global rollout for its luxury smartwatch, the Watch Ultimate Design Royal Gold Edition. After debuting in China in late November, the premium wearable was recently showcased internationally during a Mate X7 smartphone event in Dubai, signaling that wider availability is on the way.

Positioned as a statement piece as much as a high-end wearable, Huawei calls the Watch Ultimate Design Royal Gold Edition “a crown jewel on the wrist.” The watch leans into an elegant purple theme, pairing a distinctive 12-sided ceramic bezel with multiple gold touches. Huawei blends 18K and 24K gold elements into the design, while the purple case uses a zirconium-based liquid metal for a refined, durable finish. Completing the look is a matching purple titanium alloy strap finished with 24K gold plating, and the display is protected by sapphire glass for extra scratch resistance. In terms of size and feel, the watch measures 48.3 x 48.3 x 12.9 mm and weighs 80.9 g.

On the specs side, Huawei equips this Royal Gold Edition with a 1.5-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display that can reach up to 3,500 nits peak brightness, making it easier to view in bright outdoor conditions. Buyers also get access to a wide range of watch faces, including some designs that are exclusive to this edition—another detail that strengthens its luxury positioning.

Functionality is clearly part of the pitch, not just the materials. The smartwatch supports eSIM calling and includes a noise-cancelling function for clearer conversations. It also offers local music storage, contactless payments, and GPS navigation for workouts and travel. Huawei adds extra lifestyle and sports tools too, including Golf Course Mode (availability depends on region) and support for smart gestures for quicker on-wrist interactions.

For more adventurous users, the Watch Ultimate Design Royal Gold Edition is built with serious water performance in mind. It’s rated water resistant up to 150 meters and designed to handle diving. It also includes sonar-based underwater communication, a feature Huawei has used previously on the Watch Ultimate 2, aimed at giving divers another layer of capability below the surface.

Battery life will depend on how you use it, but Huawei estimates around 2.5 days of typical use with the always-on display (AOD) enabled—a notable consideration for a bright, high-end AMOLED smartwatch.

As for the global launch timing, Huawei hasn’t shared an exact release date yet. Pricing outside China also hasn’t been confirmed, but the China retail price provides a clue about where it may land in other markets: CNY 24,999 (around $3,529).
