HarmonyOS 6 Rollout: Is Your Huawei Device on the List?

Huawei has opened the public beta of HarmonyOS 6, the company’s next-generation in-house software built on its own kernel and no longer reliant on Android’s AOSP foundations. Announced in June and now rolling out in China, this release is widely seen as the commercial debut of the HarmonyOS NEXT architecture, bringing a fresh design, deeper AI integration, and upgraded security to a wide range of phones, tablets, foldables, wearables, and audio gear.

What’s new in HarmonyOS 6
– Refined design and performance: Expect smoother animations, faster UI responsiveness, and more flexible lockscreen customization so you can tailor layouts, widgets, and visuals to your taste.
– XiaoYi AI assistant: Positioned as a smart partner, XiaoYi can understand context, execute multi-step tasks on your behalf, help organize research, and handle complex requests autonomously. It also introduces a Sees the World feature aimed at assisting visually impaired users with real-time awareness and descriptions.
– AI-first security: The system adds proactive anti-fraud protections that can flag suspicious calls, including AI face-swap scams. An anti-peep safeguard automatically hides sensitive on-screen content when it detects someone looking over your shoulder.
– Cross-ecosystem sharing: HarmonyOS 6 supports file transfers between Huawei devices and Apple devices such as iPhones, iPads, and Macs, making cross-platform sharing more seamless.
