For renters, apartment residents, condo owners, or homeowners who do not want to invest in a full electrical retrofit, traditional residential solar can feel expensive and complicated. Hoymiles is trying to make that process simpler with the HiFlow Pro, a compact plug-in solar micro-inverter system designed for easy setup, flexible installation, and lower monthly electricity bills.
The Hoymiles HiFlow Pro is built around the idea of accessible home solar. Instead of requiring major changes to an electrical system, the micro-inverter can connect to a home energy setup through a standard outlet, making it a practical option for small-scale solar installations. It is aimed at balcony solar systems, DIY solar projects, select rooftop setups, and upgrades to existing photovoltaic systems.
The system is available in 360 W to 500 W configurations, giving users a way to start small while still making a noticeable impact on household energy use. The entry-level HMS-360-WM-LV model offers 360 VA of power output, while the higher-end HMS-500-1WM-LV reaches 500 VA. Rated output current ranges from 3.0 A to 4.17 A, with a nominal output voltage of 120/90–150 V.
One of the biggest advantages of the HiFlow Pro is its compact and lightweight design. At just 1.8 kg, the unit is easy to handle and suited for installations where space is limited. Hoymiles also includes a 12-year warranty, which adds confidence for buyers considering a long-term solar investment.
Performance is another key part of the system’s appeal. Hoymiles estimates that a 360 W HiFlow Pro micro-inverter can generate up to 721 kWh per year, depending on sunlight conditions and installation quality. The unit has a 22 V startup voltage and a peak efficiency rating of 95.5%, helping users get more usable energy from their solar panels.
Safety is a major focus of the HiFlow Pro. Hoymiles says the system is the first plug-in inverter in the United States to receive UL3700 certification. This certification means the device includes important protections such as over-current protection, touch safety, and ground-fault circuit interrupter protection.
The micro-inverter also features IP67-rated NEMA Type 6 connectors and enclosures, making it suitable for outdoor use in challenging conditions. Another important safety feature is intelligent rapid voltage reduction, which lowers the AC plug voltage to safe levels within one second after disconnection.
For users who want to monitor their solar generation, the HiFlow Pro includes built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Through the S-Miles Home mobile app, owners can track system performance remotely and see how much energy their setup is producing. Hoymiles also notes that data is stored and processed locally, which may appeal to users who prioritize privacy.
The savings potential will vary by location, electricity rates, and daily sunlight. Hoymiles estimates that one HiFlow Pro unit can save up to $246.59 per year, based on 5.6 peak sun hours per day and an electricity cost of $0.38 per kWh. Users can connect up to four units together, creating a system with up to 1,200 W of output. In ideal conditions, that larger setup could generate up to 2,403 kWh annually and potentially save up to $822.03 per year in areas with high electricity prices.
Pricing for the HiFlow Pro system starts at $152.72 for the HMS-391-1WM-LV model, with balcony solar kits also available through solar equipment retailers.
