Grand Seiko Unveils Exclusive SBGE317 Spring Drive GMT with Striking Black Zirconia Bezel

Grand Seiko SBGE317 Debuts as a 60-Piece Isetan Shinjuku Exclusive with Ice Blue GMT Style

Grand Seiko has introduced the SBGE317, a new 2026 Isetan Shinjuku exclusive that brings a striking urban-inspired look to the brand’s Sport Collection. Unlike many Grand Seiko watches that draw from mountains, forests, snowfields, and seasonal Japanese landscapes, this limited-edition Spring Drive GMT turns its attention to Tokyo’s architecture.

The SBGE317 takes inspiration from the glass-covered skyscrapers of Shinjuku, capturing the clean geometry of building facades and the way blue daylight reflects across rows of windows. The result is an ice blue dial with a crisp, repeating geometric texture and a glossy metallic finish that shifts subtly as the light changes.

Framing the dial is a black zirconia ceramic bezel, giving the watch a sportier and more modern edge. The contrast works especially well against the cool blue surface, while the red GMT hand and red seconds hand add a bold, functional accent. Together, the blue, black, silver, and red elements create a sharp city-inspired design that feels distinct within Grand Seiko’s limited-edition catalog.

Inside the Grand Seiko SBGE317 is the 9R66 Spring Drive GMT movement. This caliber combines the energy of a traditional mainspring with the precision of a quartz regulator, delivering accuracy rated at plus or minus 15 seconds per month. It also offers a 72-hour power reserve, making it practical for frequent travelers and collectors who rotate between multiple watches.

The stainless steel case measures 40.5 mm wide, 14.7 mm thick, and 48.7 mm from lug to lug. It comes with 20-bar water resistance and is paired with a stainless steel bracelet, reinforcing its position as a durable travel-ready GMT watch rather than a purely dress-focused limited edition.

Grand Seiko is producing only 60 pieces of the SBGE317. Each watch features a solid case back engraved with “1 OF 60” and the Grand Seiko lion crest, emphasizing its exclusivity. The price is set at ¥979,000, which is approximately $6,700 depending on exchange rates.

The Grand Seiko SBGE317 will officially go on sale on November 7, 2026, exclusively at Isetan Shinjuku. Collectors hoping to see it earlier can visit the “Spirit of Japanese Craftsmanship” event at the store’s main building from July 15 to July 21, where pre-orders are also expected to open.

With its limited production, Spring Drive GMT movement, black ceramic bezel, and distinctive ice blue Shinjuku-inspired dial, the SBGE317 is likely to attract strong interest from Grand Seiko fans and collectors of Japan-exclusive watches.
