Grand Seiko Unveils Four Striking Evolution 9 Hi-Beat Watches Powered by the 9SA5 Caliber

Grand Seiko Unveils Four New Hi-Beat Evolution 9 Watches for October 2026

Grand Seiko is expanding its acclaimed Evolution 9 collection with four new Hi-Beat models set to arrive in October 2026. The upcoming Grand Seiko SLGH029, SLGH031, SLGH033, and SLGH035 bring fresh dial designs, premium case materials, and a long-requested bracelet upgrade to one of the brand’s most distinctive modern watch lines.

All four watches share the same refined foundation: a 40 mm case, 11.7 mm thickness, and a 47 mm lug-to-lug profile. Each model is fitted with a box-shaped sapphire crystal featuring an inner anti-reflective coating, along with a see-through screw-down case back that reveals the movement inside.

At the heart of the new lineup is Grand Seiko’s in-house 9SA5 caliber, a high-frequency mechanical movement operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour. This movement uses Grand Seiko’s Dual Impulse Escapement and twin barrels, delivering an impressive 80-hour power reserve. Accuracy is rated at +5 to -3 seconds per day, keeping the watches firmly in the territory of serious mechanical performance.

One of the most practical updates is the new bracelet design. Grand Seiko has added a three-step micro-adjustment clasp, giving wearers more flexibility for a better fit throughout the day. For collectors and daily wearers alike, this is a meaningful improvement that makes the Evolution 9 series even more versatile.

The four new models are split between two case materials. The Grand Seiko SLGH029 stands apart as the only version crafted from High-Intensity Titanium. This material is lighter than stainless steel while offering strong scratch resistance, making it a comfortable and durable choice for everyday wear. It is also the only model in the group with an allergy-safe metal designation.

The SLGH029 features a dramatic black dial inspired by the white birch forests near the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi at night. The texture adds depth and character, giving the watch a quiet, atmospheric look that fits beautifully with the darker dial tone.

The remaining three models are made from Ever-Brilliant Steel, Grand Seiko’s proprietary stainless-steel alloy known for its bright appearance and corrosion resistance. These models bring their own nature-inspired personalities to the collection.

The Grand Seiko SLGH031 features a silver White Birch dial, continuing one of the brand’s most recognizable design themes. Its textured surface captures the look and feel of birch bark, offering a clean, elegant expression that has become closely associated with Grand Seiko’s modern mechanical watches.

The Grand Seiko SLGH033 introduces a deep green dial inspired by birch forests in full sunlight. This gives the watch a richer and more vivid personality while still keeping the natural theme at the center of the design.

The Grand Seiko SLGH035 takes a different direction with a textured light blue dial inspired by the flowing waters of Genbi Valley in Iwate Prefecture, the region where Grand Seiko’s mechanical watches are produced. The result is a cool, serene design that adds a fresh color option to the Evolution 9 family.

Pricing for the Grand Seiko SLGH029 in High-Intensity Titanium is set at €11,700. The three Ever-Brilliant Steel models, SLGH031, SLGH033, and SLGH035, are priced at €10,400 each. US pricing has not yet been announced.

With the launch of the SLGH029, SLGH031, SLGH033, and SLGH035, Grand Seiko continues to strengthen the Evolution 9 lineup with a blend of high-end craftsmanship, advanced movement technology, and nature-inspired design. For watch enthusiasts looking for a refined mechanical timepiece with strong daily-wear potential, these four new Hi-Beat models will be among the key Grand Seiko releases to watch in October 2026.
