Razer Kitsune Arcade Controller Levels Up With a Fresh Special Edition

Razer Kitsune Ryu Edition brings Street Fighter style to the leverless arcade controller

Razer has introduced a new special edition of its Kitsune leverless arcade controller, this time inspired by one of the most iconic characters in fighting game history: Ryu from Street Fighter. The Razer Kitsune Ryu Edition is now available for pre-order, joining the growing lineup of character-themed Kitsune controllers designed for competitive fighting game players.

The Kitsune first arrived in 2023 as Razer’s premium all-button arcade controller for PlayStation 5 and PC. At launch, it was offered in a standard version along with Cammy and Chun-Li editions. Since then, Razer has expanded the range with additional designs, including a 2XKO edition and an Esports Green model. The new Ryu Edition continues that theme, giving fans another collectible option with a design centered around one of Capcom’s most recognizable fighters.

The Razer Kitsune Ryu Edition is priced at $319.99 and is currently available for pre-order through Razer’s official store. Shipping is scheduled to begin on July 10. Buyers also receive the Razer L33T Pack, valued at $19.99, as a free gift, along with a $100 gaming chair reward. Customers in the United States also get free shipping.

As a limited edition release, the Ryu-themed Kitsune may appeal strongly to Street Fighter collectors and competitive players alike. Razer has not stated how many units will be produced, so availability could become an issue once demand picks up.

For players who are more interested in performance than the special-edition artwork, the standard Razer Kitsune is currently discounted. Razer’s store has the regular model listed for $199.99, down from its usual $299.99 price. Other retailers may offer even lower pricing depending on membership status and availability. The Kitsune Esports Green edition is also discounted on Razer’s store, dropping from $309.99 to $209.99.

The Razer Kitsune is built for fighting game fans who prefer a leverless layout. Instead of a traditional joystick, it uses a quad movement button setup, allowing players to control movement with buttons for faster directional inputs and cleaner execution. This style of controller has become increasingly popular in competitive fighting games, especially among players looking for precision and consistency.

Under the buttons, the Kitsune uses low-profile linear optical switches designed for fast actuation and smooth input response. It also features Razer Chroma lighting for customizable visual effects, giving players a more personalized setup whether they are playing at home or in a tournament environment.

The controller connects to PlayStation 5 or Windows PC using an included USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable. Razer has also included a built-in cable lock to help prevent accidental disconnections during matches. For tournament play, there is a tournament lock switch that disables non-essential buttons, reducing the risk of accidental inputs during competitive sessions.

With the Ryu Edition, Razer is clearly targeting both serious fighting game players and Street Fighter fans who want a premium controller with collectible appeal. The price is higher than the standard model, but the limited-edition design, bonus items, and Street Fighter branding may make it an attractive option for dedicated fans.

For those who simply want the Kitsune experience at a lower cost, the ongoing discounts on the standard and Esports Green versions make this a good time to consider picking one up. But for players who want a controller that pays tribute to Ryu while offering the same fast, leverless performance, the Razer Kitsune Ryu Edition is the standout new addition to the lineup.
