Much like the cryptocurrency boom, this surge is reshaping the market dynamics for these graphic cards. Despite the challenges of obtaining mainstream AI chips, Chinese tech firms have found a creative workaround by opting for NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 series, particularly the RTX 5090, to power AI tasks.
This shift comes as the DeepSeek R1 has achieved significant breakthroughs, signaling a transformative period for AI in China. Five chip smugglers have noted an underground market boom, with GPUs such as the RTX 5090 reportedly fetching up to $5,000 due to limited supply.
