Garmin is rolling out a fresh beta update aimed at making its newest premium multisport watches more stable and enjoyable to use. Beta version 21.38 is now arriving for the Fenix 8 AMOLED, Fenix 8 Solar, Fenix 8 Pro, Fenix E, Enduro 3, Tactix 8 AMOLED, and Tactix 8 Solar—just days after the previous beta (version 21.35). The quick turnaround suggests Garmin is actively squashing issues and fine-tuning key features based on early feedback.
According to the beta release notes, version 21.38 includes nine listed changes, although a few items may look familiar if you’ve been following recent updates. The most important additions are two new crash fixes designed to improve overall reliability. One fix targets crashes connected to LTE-related functionality, while the other addresses a crash scenario that could occur when headphones are paired with the watch. For users who rely on wireless audio during workouts or use connected features regularly, these stability improvements should be especially noticeable.
Beyond crash prevention, Garmin also notes updated translations and additional minor bug fixes. While these may sound small, they often help clean up odd behavior, improve wording in menus, and deliver a smoother day-to-day experience across different regions and languages.
The update also mentions performance improvements for the Course Planner feature. Garmin doesn’t specify exactly what changed this time, but any optimization here could be welcome for athletes who build and follow routes often—especially those planning longer runs, rides, hikes, or navigation-heavy adventures.
Other fixes in the change log include tweaks related to the sports score glance, strength training activities, and the HIIT activity mode. These are popular training tools within Garmin’s ecosystem, so refinements here can help ensure activity tracking and quick-glance data behave as expected during workouts.
Beta version 21.38 is available now for eligible owners of the supported Fenix and Tactix models. The update is delivered over the air (OTA) and should appear when the watch is connected to the Garmin Connect Mobile app. If you’re enrolled in Garmin’s beta program, keep an eye out for the prompt—especially if you’ve experienced crashes tied to LTE features or headphone connections.
