AOC Unveils a 5K Gaming Monitor with a Smooth 180Hz Refresh Rate and Connectivity to Spare

AOC is turning heads in the gaming monitor world with the official launch of its Agon Pro AGP277KX, a premium 27-inch display built for players who want ultra-sharp visuals without giving up high refresh rates. First revealed in late 2025, the monitor is now up for preorder in China, and a wider international release seems possible based on AOC’s history of bringing new Agon Pro products to more markets.

What makes the AOC Agon Pro AGP277KX especially interesting is its dual-mode setup. In its highest-quality mode, you get a crisp 5K resolution of 5120 x 2880 on a 27-inch panel. That works out to a very high pixel density of 218 PPI, which is the kind of clarity that benefits more than just gaming. Text looks cleaner, fine UI details pop, and it’s a strong fit for productivity tasks and content work alongside high-fidelity gaming.

In 5K mode, the refresh rate tops out at 180 Hz, giving you smooth motion while keeping the visual detail extremely sharp. If you prefer speed over resolution, the monitor can switch into an FHD mode where the refresh rate can climb as high as 350 Hz. That flexibility makes it appealing to two different types of gamers in one screen: those who want stunning image detail for immersive play, and competitive players chasing the highest frame rates possible.

AOC is also positioning this monitor as a solid option for creators and anyone who values accurate color. The company claims 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 100% coverage of sRGB, along with a Delta E value under 1. That suggests strong out-of-the-box color accuracy, though peak brightness is listed at 500 nits, which is good but not aimed at extreme HDR performance.

On the HDR front, the AGP277KX doesn’t include mini-LED backlighting, which limits the display’s ability to deliver the deep blacks and punchy contrast many HDR fans look for. The monitor is rated at a 1000:1 contrast ratio, which is typical for many panels but not a standout for cinematic HDR experiences.

Gaming-focused features are included, such as dynamic crosshair tools and dark area enhancement to help visibility in shadow-heavy scenes. AOC also includes a fully adjustable stand with tilt, swivel, height adjustment, and pivot, making it easier to set up a comfortable desk layout for long sessions.

Connectivity is another strong point. The AOC Agon Pro AGP277KX comes with DisplayPort 2.1, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port with 65W power delivery for charging compatible laptops and devices. It also includes multiple USB ports, listed as three USB Type-A ports plus a USB Type-B connection.

In China, the AOC Agon Pro AGP277KX is available for preorder priced at 5,999 yuan, which works out to around $871. While a global release hasn’t been confirmed with timing yet, interest is likely to be high thanks to the combination of 5K resolution, 180 Hz performance, and the option to switch into a high-speed 350 Hz Full HD mode.
