Garmin has just rolled out Beta Version 24.10, breathing new life into its older Forerunner smartwatches. This update is now available for models like the Forerunner 165, Forerunner 255, Forerunner 955, and Forerunner 965. It’s the first major update in over a month, signaling Garmin’s ongoing commitment to enhance its popular mid-range devices.
In recent updates, Garmin has been focusing on high-end models such as the Fenix 8 and Tactix 8, alongside new arrivals like the Forerunner 570, Forerunner 970, and Venu X1. This has left some older models waiting longer for updates. The last stable update these models received was System Software 23.20, more than two months ago. Meanwhile, the Beta Program had been stuck on version 24.07 for about a month.
With Beta Version 24.10, users of the Forerunner 165, 255, 265, 955, and 965 can now enjoy a host of improvements. The update is easy to access: simply head to the Main menu, navigate through Settings, System, and Software Update, and tap ‘Check for Updates.’
This version addresses several issues shared across devices. It resolves a potential crash on the watch face, enhances recovery options when the PIN unlock is exhausted, and fixes problems with event goals not updating and volume control issues. Additionally, for the Forerunner 955 and 965, there are specific fixes for route calculations on China maps and golf AutoShot features.
These updates are packed with various bug fixes and improvements, ensuring that your smartwatch performs at its best. With such enhancements, Garmin continues to cater to its loyal users, making sure their trusted devices stay relevant and functional.
