Garmin Enhances AMOLED Smartwatch Experience with New Software Upgrade

Garmin’s Vivoactive 5 is receiving a fresh software update, bringing its firmware to version 15.01. This update is currently available for users participating in the beta program. Installing the update is straightforward; it can be requested directly on the watch itself, eliminating the need for manual file transfers.

While beta updates may sometimes introduce new issues, this one specifically targets a bug fix related to downloaded golf course maps. The update also features improvements in tracking breathing rates and refining the passcode function. This passcode acts as a numerical password for the watch, providing added security by protecting sensitive health data and serving as a theft deterrent. Upon removal from the wrist, entering the passcode becomes necessary.

Previous updates, such as versions 14.10 and 14.07, have similarly focused on minor tweaks and bug resolutions. The Garmin Vivoactive 5 is a versatile fitness smartwatch with a vibrant AMOLED display, GNSS module, local music playback, and an array of other features. It’s priced starting from $229.
