Emphasizing convenience, the bike boasts a rapid folding mechanism that reportedly enables it to fold and unfold in just a second, which is a significant time-saver for commuters and urban dwellers.
Boasting a sleek design, the bike features a brushless 250W rear hub motor, delivering a torque of 35Nm. This motor provides electrical assistance at speeds of up to 25 kilometers per hour (approximately 16 miles per hour), which is in line with many urban mobility regulations. In addition, riders have the flexibility to adjust the power with three different speed modes or select a walking mode which gently propels the bike at a comfortable 4 kilometers per hour (around 2.5 miles per hour).
One of the E-Fold 900’s most practical attributes is its 252Wh battery, which promises a range of up to 55 kilometers (about 34 miles) on a single charge. Not only does this offer a decent commute distance, but it also maintains its maximum capacity for at least 500 charge cycles, ensuring long-term reliability.
As for the transmission, the e-bike comes equipped with a 7-speed Shimano Tourney drivetrain. Stopping power is courtesy of Tektro T275 hydraulic disc brakes that promise responsive braking, while Schwalbe Big Apple tires on 20-inch wheels ensure a smooth ride even on urban streets. Additional features that enhance the bike’s utility include a 10 Lux headlight, rear lights, mudguards, and a standard bike bell for safety and visibility.
When it comes to the bike’s build, it features a durable 6061 aluminum frame that caters to a range of rider heights, from 145 to 195 centimeters (4 feet 9 inches to 6 feet 5 inches tall). It tips the scales at 19 kilograms (around 42 pounds), striking a balance between sturdiness and portability. Pricing for the Decathlon BTWIN E-Fold 900 varies by country within Europe, with the prices being €1,749.99 in the Netherlands, €1,709.99 in Spain, and a slightly lower tag of €1,699.99 in France and Italy. The bike is also anticipated to reach the UK market, where it is expected to sell for £1,499.99, although its availability remains to be confirmed.
