Elden Ring: Nightreign Dominates June 2025 U.S. Sales, Surpassing Death Stranding 2 and Mario Kart World

FromSoftware’s latest release, Elden Ring: Nightreign, has soared to the top of the June 2025 U.S. sales charts, marking it as the bestselling video game of the month. Analytics from Circana reveal that this multiplayer co-op spin-off has captivated players nationwide, surpassing contenders like Sony’s PS5 exclusive Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Nintendo’s Mario Kart World for the Switch 2.

Launched on May 30, 2025, for multiple platforms including Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, Elden Ring: Nightreign benefited from a broad release strategy. Within its first five days, the game sold an impressive 3.5 million copies globally, with 2 million sold on its launch day alone, accounting for 36% of U.S. sales.

Building on the massive success of the original Elden Ring, which sold 30 million units since 2022, Nightreign introduced co-op gameplay and formidable Nightlord bosses that resonated with fans. Remarkably, 7.5% of players managed to defeat all Nightlords within just five days of the game’s release.

Despite initial grievances over the lack of duo co-op, the game peaked at 313,593 concurrent players on its first day. In response to feedback, FromSoftware rolled out quality-of-life updates like auto-resurrect features and improved leveling curves, boosting the Steam review scores to a favorable 78% positive rating.

In June, the gaming charts also featured favorites such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Stellar Blade, and Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, alongside Cyberpunk 2077, which benefited from its Nintendo Switch 2 debut.

FromSoftware continues to excel in an intensely competitive gaming market by consistently delivering challenging yet engaging experiences, paired with intricate world-building that keeps players coming back for more.
